Aftermarket Cruise Control 02 Bounder Ford F-53

Howdy;
2002 Fleetwood bounder 36S, Ford V-10.
Awhile back, the cruise control started to become intermittent and eventually just stopped.
Ford dealer gave me an estimate of $2,400 or so.
He said something about a new part that needed to be fabricated, and something about a vacuum module on the one not working.
I don't miss it TOO much, but it does become a PIA for longer trips.
So, I am looking at an aftermarket unit.
Looking for some direction.
Anyone have experience with one of these, and what is involved in them?
I see several questions about "by-wire" etc.
As usual, lot's of questions.

    Many years back, I had to replace one on my F53 and order one from the web. I was for a Ford so it work with my controls. We had it for another 6 + years with not issues. Looking on the web , less than a few hundred.

    i had a similar issue. it was the harness that was partially disconnected. from vibrations of just driving. on a 2003 lapalma v10 ford.

    it is also now, i will need to remove the engine cover, reach far, far in and push it in again. every 1 or 2 years. i will add a tyrap if i can this time

    OK, thanks. I will see if I can track it down.
    That sounds like it could be the issue, maybe it was working for a while, and then slowly backed out from the plug.

    Lots of discussion on the Ford cruise system in motorhomes out there if you google it. The system on your '02 is NOT vacuum operated, nor is your throttle drive by wire. Sounds your your dealer doesn't want to work on it.

    Most importantly, there is a recall for Ford cruise systems of the era. You need to check if yours is subject to the recall, and if the recall was done.

    Or wanted to make a lot of money for less work. $2,500 or so for it!
    I looked, but did not see a Ford recall :(

    I think that's good news. I know my 2004 wasn't recalled. Not sure when the end date was.

    Wish you were closer. I've been all through mine, I know I could make yours work again. There are wiring diagrams in some of the threads out there. Up to pinning out the connector at the servo module? I think that's where I'd start.
