- daily_doubleExplorerFish, I saw the parts.Rust.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIII guess my question would be why take a chance with anything after the 7.3 when there are two other brands that mostly have things ironed out and do stand behind their product.

Ford will NOT cover any water in the fuel on their diesels! I don't care if you have all the documentation in the world, Ford will not pay! They will admit there is water in all diesel fuel, but the bottom line is still the same. They even admitted to me that their warning system (water in fuel light) is not perfect. I just paid $10,216 .00 to find all this information!
I asked you in your thread if you ever seen any pictures or evidence of rust in the fuel pump, but you seem to ignore the question.
Perhaps your dealer bent you over the barrel.- daily_doubleExplorerFord will NOT cover any water in the fuel on their diesels! Never owned one but based on actual owners responding here it would appear to be reasonably reliable but not great on fuel mileage. There will always be an entire chorus of Ford haters on this forum who have nothing but doom and gloom stories on why you shouldn't ever buy a Ford.
I agree there are Ford haters. However I am not one. I have had Ford's up to my current truck. I have Ford work vans.
Nevertheless Ford has had real issues with their PSD engines after the 7.3. To recommend a 6.0 or 6.4 engine to someone without making them aware of the issues would be misleading. I have nothing to gain or loose but I prefer to give an honest opinion.
One does not have to own the truck first hand to become aware of problems. Every vehicle will develop a history and reputation on its own.
I prefer the interior, chassis, and overall Ford truck better however their 2003-2011? Diesel engines have had issues and have developed a questionable reputation.
The only reason I have a Chevy now is due to the issues with Ford diesels of my era.
Currently Ford is shooting itself in the foot again by denying warranty claims on the 6.7 engine.
Maybe some do not want to hear any discouraging remarks about Ford.
I am not so brand loyal that I choose to cover up or deny real issues.
Hopefully someone may avoid making a big mistake by being informed.
I imagine the OP wanted all the info he could get both good and bad in order to make an informed decision.
Thank you... yes... all the info! but on another note. I have a great relationship with my local ford dealer. They haven't denied any warranty claims on the 6.7L unless there is obvious owner abuse....
I am not trying to bust on you...but in reality, no one has a better relationship with their Ford dealer than I did with mine...and if you are fortunate to have your breakdown close enough to your dealer, you have a better chance of getting warranty coverage...but do not expect similar treatment away from home...and if it is HPFP issues on a 6.7...the proof will be your problem...the SOP for these failures is denial...all cases go to the Field Service Engineer for a decision...and he is looking for any excuse to deny...
When I pulled my truck out of the crooked dealership, I had it towed to mine. Despite overwhelming evidence refuting any water in fuel claims, FOMOCO would not get between two dealerships in a warranty battle...especially when the crook was in a large city and my guy in a small town...dealer politics and the eventual sacrifice of a loyal customer on the alter of dealership and FSE harmony...

Did you have a failure of your HPFP? If not, your Ford dealership can not override FMC if there ever was a question of warranty coverage on the HPFP.
As long as the dealer follows the required check list and sends pictures to Ford to validate no rust is in the pump or DEF crystals in the filters there should be no denial.
In addition there's been some reports that the techs are the culprits in an effort to charge more $$$$ instead of warranty repair $$$$.- Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

OP open your eyes to the other two brands.
I am not opposed to getting into a RAM, I like the cummins power plant. I've been a ford guy for a long time. I love the fit and finish of the ford.... but i have been rather impressed with the effort that dodge has put into the Ram trucks.
I like the 2500 Laramie. ( partial to wyoming anyway... lol :) )
I kind of want to stay away from CarMax... i don't think they put much effort into gathering quality vehicles. I have a few buddies who have had bad experiences.. so I have really tried to stay with Brand Dealers....
I'm in the mood to be patient... as my truck is great.... - bigcitypopoExplorer

Why a new truck, EcoBoost not getting it done? If you are not dead-set on a diesel you might consider the V-10 in the Fords. Except for the spark plug issues these motors tend to be both powerful and reliable from what I've read here.
No, my truck is very capable. The opportunity to upgrade presented itself, so i started browsing. If i was going to trade in my Eco... it is for a diesel. But as i look more and more. I think i want to wait and build a new truck. Or if the perfect used appears. I will gab it.
I drive a V10 at work. its a great motor, but she is thirsty. I don't go anywhere fast anymore. I know I'd get better mileage then most. As my habits are very consistant. Seeing i put 230K on my last truck... i figured a diesel i'd get at least 500k out of... lol
I've been in 3 duty related accidents... no bueno. (none at fault) I give myself the most mount of time to deal with everyone else's poor driving habits... and that is by taking my time and doing the speed limit. lol
