- goducks10ExplorerYou must have the Heavy Duty tow package with those LT tires. Makes sense towing your 5th wheel. Should be a good combo.

I would look at the tires before adding bags. Did you have the tires aired to the max PSI on the tire sidewall? You said you have LT load range C on the rear? I will assume you have the same on the front as well? If not then you need to do so.
The 2017 f150 with the EB & ten speed should handle that trailer without any issues at all. There are guys on here claiming their older EB f150 is towing over 10,000# like a breeze. So something is definitely wrong here.

Goodyear Wrangler LT "c" all the way around. I have towed the same trailer with my '15 F150. I am mainly seeking input on how the new 10 speed and more powerful ecoboost does since I haven't gotten to try mine out yet - brulazExplorer

Had an issue with the 1st-2nd gears on steep, slow descents with our 6 spd Ecoboost. Another gear in there might have helped.
What kind of "issue?"
Not enough engine braking in second gear with trailer going down long, steep, windy road with many 20mph hairpin turns. Ended up over-heating the trailer and truck brakes.
At times, first gear would keep the speeds down perhaps too much, or would get close to over-revving the engine otherwise. Perhaps gearing in between first and second would have worked better. - SpeakEasyExplorer

Have read elsewhere that the newer Al-bodies F150s are not as stable as the older Ecoboosts, and need a bit more work to get them to tow smoothly. Lighter suspension and weight most likely the problem. And you need an excellent anti-sway WDH if you're bumper tow.
Wonder if that 10 speed would help adjust the engine/tranny braking to maintain whatever downhill speed you want. Unless the extra gears are all overdrive?

Don - johndeerefarmerExplorer IIIThanks for the responses. I have a GD Reflection 29rs but haven't got to tow it yet. I have towed a Polaris on a 12' trailer and notice that it will downshift to 5th on rolling hills so am wondering how it will do with the fiver.
I have airbags and Bilstein 4600's on the rear of mine as well as LT load range C tires - blackgrizz550ExplorerWe have a 2017. I did a 700 mile road trip empty this weekend and averaged 22 MPG hand calculated.
I've only towed our Rockwood 2702ss once. Plenty of power and the transmission did a nice job slowing the truck down when it came time to stop.
It was very windy that day and it did not feel as stable as the 2007 Sierra with air bags that I have previously. I need to get more trips in before I make a fair assessment. - lly-zf6Explorer'17 F150 S-Cab 4x4 Max tow 4x4
Towing '14 Laredo 274RB. 7800 lbs GVWR
I weighed it once on last truck. was 7300 lbs camp ready with 950 lbs tongue weight.
I have only towed about 50 miles so far. Didn't bother to check the mileage. Truck gets about 18 as a daily driver.
My first impressions towing are that it has a surprising amount of power, but I have been unable to get the it to handle the trailer as I would like. It feels "loose" with the camper hooked, with a Reese dual cam hitch. My previous tow vehicle was a '14 Silverado 1500 max tow, which felt more planted at road speeds. I have a set of Timbren SES ordered and will install prior to an outing this weekend. Hopefully they tighten it up. I think the Ford is sprung softer the the Chevy was, and this may be causing the bad tow experience.
I will set the trip and see what it gets for mileage this weekend.
