Are you looking for a slide-out model? If you aren't, then Northwood Mfg. also makes a lighter camper called the Wolf Creek. They're currently producing two floorplans the 840 and the 850. Both are a good 800 lbs lighter than a comparable AF floorplan with a slideout. Just a thought.

Figure about 4500lbs loaded for a AF 811, 860 or 990 and that will be a good ballpark # to decide if its too heavy for you.

No, I wasn't surprised at all. Here are the numbers I used prior to purchasing based on research I did here after people actually weighed their rigs. There has been a lot of discussion about Arctic Fox weights, so there was a lot of it. I figure it is +- about 100 lbs. Accessories like A/C and solar panels weigh a lot, and it adds up. This assumes you have A/C and other common options like the Fox landing, and these are wet weights with full water, propane, and 2 batteries. This matched up very well with my experience with my AF 990:

1140: 5,150

No I wasn't surprised at all. I knew I was buying a heavy TC and I expected the wet weight to be atleast 1000 lbs over their advertised dry weight. Just make sure you add in their Fox Value Package which adds an extra 500+ lbs to their advertised dry weights. The FVP is a "mandated option" that all their campers must have.

Get a Lance my 2003 1071 slide (wood frame) weighs about 4000 lbs. wet fully loaded

I'll vouch for the 996 weight figure, pretty close to ours.

AMLRV (Adventurer/Eagle Cap) post an actual weight as the camper left the factory inside each unit. This can be very helpful.

Agree the AF weights posted also look accurate based on our experience.

BTW; all 3 of these brands are very nice. Pick the floor plan you like best...can't go wrong with any of these.

I moved from a 1996, 10'11" Caribou with a claimed wet weight of ~3350 lbs, to a 990 with a claimed wet weight of ~3600 lbs. The Caribou was Dad's old rig and we never put it on the scales, just took the door sticker as the gospel- I know (now), big mistake...

Our first pull over the Oregon Cascades with our 990 told me there was a LOT more in the bed. We hit the scales on the same scales; our 990 is ~4600 lbs ready to camp, give or take a 100 lbs depending on family members and associated must-have toys...

There is no way a 990 is going to be wet at 3600#. Dry weight of the unit is 3010. They you have to add the Value Package option (which is a mandatory option go figure) that is 595# (take a look at their brochure page 18 on the upper left side you well see Value Pack with a weight of 595#) So add this to the 3010# is 3605#. This is without batteries, (30# each X2 =60 ), propane (60#)and water (about 460#) The weight of the camper wet comes in about 4185# Now you have to add any other options you add like AC, solar, generator, bumper and Fox Landing and on and on plus also you have to add your personal belongs, which most figure well be about 500#. I think when somebody gave you that figure they forgot the Value Pack additional weight.

I use to have a 1140 (which I should of kept but didn't and that is another story) so I know they are heavy campers but very well built and strong.

I was not surprised by the camper weight, but did forget to add in the weight of bed mat, camper tie downs, larger receiver and extension. These items put me within 100 lbs of my 275/70R18 tire capacity when loaded and hitched up for camping. I did not want to be counting and weighing each item I packed with me, so upgraded to 19.5" wheels to give me more margin and not worry about it. This should not be an issue for your F450 - Mine is only a 250.
