- RVcircusExplorer III always disconnect my weight distribution bars and trailer brakes before backing into a site or the driveway. It does make it easier for me and I have broken a chain on a bar after making a few really tight turns in a row (driving forward). There's no reason to put extra stress on components while moving at a snails pace in the campground.
- the_bear_IIExplorerOnce in a while if you are backing with tight turns it's best to remove the equalizer bars or chains hanging loose. The bars have some leeway for maneuvering backwards.
- WalabyExplorer IIOk
1) I don't move forward OR backward with stabilizers down. Doubt anyone else does.
2) I back up with WD hitch installed all the time. I never disconnect the bars. Backing into my driveway, I am almost 90 degrees and no issues, no bent bars etc. Im trying to get better at the "swoop" method but still learning.
Mike - hohenwald48ExplorerIt's clearly unclear what the OP is talking about.
Stabilizers are in fact jack like devices between the TT frame and ground. Sway bars come in various forms and functions. Equalizer bars are used to transfer weight from one axle to another.
Until the OP clarifies their meaning, any response is just a guess. - Jebby14ExplorerI take mine off entering the campground not because I need to but because they are noisy and not needed at idol speeds. no reason to make everyone listen to them moan. I have also been known to kill my trailer breaks at the registration office
- Bucky_BadgerExplorerI have my sway bars hooked almost always while backing. I have never seen anyone parked in the road taking them off either. I'm sure some might but i never have seen it.

You got it and anybody with TT towing knowledge would have gotten it too. :@
I'm guessing that the poster is referring to backing with sway bars on the hitch...???
A new member who just joined this forum yesterday just misspoke. - ReneeGExplorerAnti-sway bars? Your question seems to match the behavior you are describing that should be avoided. If so, you can back with anti-sway bars attached, but straight as possible and no sharp turns. If you still need to maneuver more to get back into your spot, then remove the anti-sway bars and continue.

- I think that there may be a communication break down between you and the folks who told you that.. OR they are real un informed... Either way, if they are the average stabilizers, you will be able to go frontwards... AND backwards.... As long as they are raised and ready for travel
