- noxinnhojExploreryour tc is considered cargo in b.c.,no registration is required. If the camper obstructs your truck licsense plate, mount it on the camper. We did a lien search when we purchased our lance of craigslist, got a receipt from seller and took a pic of his I.D.We do purchase insurance that covers contents, replacement cost etc. at bcaa
- tonymullExplorerAs far as insurance you need to ask your insurance company. Mine covers the camper, some do not or have limited coverage.
- DirtpigExploreryou dont need icbc insurance for the camper like you would with a rv trailer or motorhome. you would want to insure your camper through an insurance broker. i pay $250 a year for replacement value on a 2009 Arctic Fox.
- ejfranzExplorerAs Dirtpig said you do not need insurance for a slide in camper in BC. If your camper is ruined in a car crash ICBC will not cover it under your truck insurance. If you want coverage for the camper you need to buy it separately. Shop around as you will get some very expensive quotes.
- nuckfanExplorerthanks for the info guys!
cheers - nuckfanExplorerAnother question? When you insured the camper, did you just tell them the serial number? Show a hand written bill of sale? Or is there a transfer Of ownership form? I am not knowing and it sure seems vague for private sale slide ins.
- rickeoniExplorerWhen I insured my camper all the agent wanted to know was value for the policy, after he figured out what a TC was.
- bcbouyExplorersame here.
- pconner98ExplorerIn the US(CO), my insurance company said that while the camper is on the truck it is covered by the truck insurance. Anytime the camper is off the truck it needs its own policy to be covered from damage, theft, ect. All they wanted was the VIN and value. The premium is not cheap so I will be checking other insurance companies.
- ejfranzExplorerI go through Co-operators and have a policy for replacement value so they wanted the make, model and year. The agent contacted Fraserway and got a quote for what a new equivalent camper was worth and that was the replacement value quoted on the policy. This year the camper turns 10 and it may not be eligible for this policy so I will need to insure it for what it's current value is - no idea how that is going to work out. I looked into BCAA, but their quote years ago were double.
