- nuckfanExplorerOn or off the truck. Damage caused by falling or flying objects is covered under comprehensive coverage; however, damage caused by water pipe burst, sewer back flow or electrical malfunction would not be covered.
- DirtpigExplorercrazy, well does it cover u if its off the truck and a tree branch falls on it or something like that? damage caused by water pipe burst, sewer backflow, or electrical malfunction? good info u have provided!
- nuckfanExplorerWell I've received clarification from ICBC
The Insurance (Vehicle) Act defines a camper as a removable structure designed to be mounted on a motor vehicle to provide facilities for human habitation or camping. Campers are designed:
to be installed on a pickup truck
to be completely portable or removable with little effort
to sit in the rear bed of a pickup truck
to be, often, completely self contained with sleeping and kitchen facilities
Campers may be insured on an Unlicensed Vheicle Policy (APV45) or through private insurers. - jimbob3caExplorerI'm kind of late on this, but I insure my camper as an endorsement to my homeowner's insurance. The homeowner's is insured with Lloyd's Prestige Homeowner's Insurance.
- nuckfanExploreri just fired off an email to ICBC so i could get it in writing. I'm starting to feel uneasy again..WTH! Sure is hard to find competence these days. Even when i called and talked to someone at ICBC's main info line, she had to ask her supervisor, then says it "should" be good but to double check with the agency i used? sheesh!!! Might be easier to just cancel , get a refund and go with Aviva.
- DirtpigExploreri also agree with above 2 posters.
- ejfranzExplorerSlight high jack of thread
All OHVs (motorcycles, ATVs, quads, side by sides, etc) need to be registered by June. Pay PST if you had never paid it before unless you have owned the vehicle for over 10 years and get a plate for the vehicle. You only need third party liability if you are going to travel on forest service roads. - bcbouyExplorerI've never heard of anyone insuring a camper through icbc.i hear atv's are now required to have liability ins.a camper is not a motor vehicle.
- ejfranzExplorerI got my renewal in the mail yesterday from co-operators.
$30,000 limit on camper $250 deductible
$6000 limit on personal property $250 deductible
$180 less $9 loyaltity discount for $171
I believe Aviva is the provider.
I still think there has been a mistake with the ICBC insurance. Many agents are messing up on the new OHV registration rules that will be mandatory in June. - nuckfanExplorerI called icbc today, I was asked if it was an APV 45 form and that if it was I am good to go. I checked and it is so...yay. No more stressing about insurance. I just wish they could mak it more clear. We insured our tow behind with aviva. And will likely explore that option again. But $220 for a year with collision, comprehensive and $5,000,000 liability sounds like a fair price. Thanks for chiming in guys!:)
