I am pretty sure you would do the same if you thought the corrupt activist government officials made irrational and biased laws and regulations about the 2nd amendment like I do with what the EPA officials like Carol Browner has done with some of the diesel regulations. Or would you just comply and hand over your guns because the guvment said it was best for you?

Sorry to wizz on your oatmeal. If you need to take the truck in that often there is something wrong with the truck, or more likely because the shop didn't fix, you are not using it like it was designed. You think you need this big engine to do what you do, fine. But if you do, you should be the one to pay the cost, not the rest of the world.
As to the thought I should stop towing; I tow, but I bought what I need to tow, and do it with a box stock vehicle.
Somebody driving a 30 YO Toyota back and forth to their job. If LEO thinks to much smoke, that poor mother has to fix or replace.
You know not of what you speaketh. I tow a 36’ tt that weighs in about 10k. I tow it from Florida to the upper northwest for several months a year, plus one trip to Alaska and one coming up. Regular trips are made to see kids in Florida and Ohio. I don’t think I have too much truck. I took the truck to the dealer and two other reputable shops near home and a dealer in Columbus, OH. Same results from each. Maybe I could run it by your house to have a proper cleaning done?
You might want to tow with a glorified golf cart I but choose a capable vehicle for the load. As far as your holier than thou comment, you’re the one with the 30 year old truck that pollutes way more than my engine even comes close to.pitch wrote:

If only life were that simple. The rockets that Elon Musk and several other blast off into space fulfill a scientific and commercial purpose, that will and is advancing man kinds knowledge.
The pollution controls on our vehicles were put there for the benefit of all,(socialism), and even though they are sometimes a pain in the rear,I and all thinking people are grateful for their existence.

With trucks rolling off the factory floor pushing 500HP, the NEED for more power is ludacris. If you want more power ,knock yourself out, but do it within established parameters.
The rockets that Elon blast in the air emit more than NASA rockets(that are beneficial) because Elon does not want to pay the money for them yet he does want to pay for his hundreds of miles of private jet flights.
Pollution controls on vehicles are needed, but there is a point of excess and doing more harm when all things are considered. However, people just blindingly follow whatever the EPA says is good for them without even knowing the numbers. For example, the EPA told diesel automakers back in 2005-2006 that they had to lower NOx to a certain number. They didn't know or care how the manufacturers did it, just so that it was done.
In order to meet these new numbers(which were only a .8 g/bhp-hr difference) the manufacturers had to use DEF. This required the creation over many chemical plants to create DEF, plants & factories to create the plastic DEF containers, fleets to transport this DEF, about a 5-10% decrease in fuel efficiency, and added pollution in landfills for these plastic jugs. All this to save .8 g/bhp-hr. Do you think that the EPA went back and reevaluated the pollution impact that their number created? No, not a chance.
Do they go back and say "Hey, the EU NOx limit is much higher than ours while their CO and CO2 limit(emitte is much lower" No, and that is where the hypocrisy comes in. EPA is suppose to be good for the environment yet the have much higher CO and CO2 limits than the EU because the EPA is bias toward gasoline cars even though they emit more greenhouse gasses. Not only that, but the EPA CAFE fuel economy loops are geared toward achieving the best possible fuel mileage in gasoline cars, not diesel. This is why gasoline car owners generally get worse fuel economy in the real world than the EPA test and diesels generally get better than this test. Our rules are rigged so that gasoline cars dominate and EU's rules are geared toward diesels. This is why diesels in the EU do not require as many emissions devices as the US does, but gasoline engines require more.pitch wrote:

OTOH those diesels rolling coal have NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER except to waste fuel, irritate other drivers, pollute, cause traffic hazard.
Someday you will see the difference in having an actual purpose in life vs. just wrecking havoc for fun.

How else do commercial and military systems get into orbit? By using hydrogen fuel like NASA uses which produces almost no emissions in comparison to the kerosene fueled rockets Elon uses. However, hydrogen fueled rockets cost a lot more so it appears Elon does not want to put his wallet where his mouth is on saving the environment like diesel truck owners have to pay extra for emissions equipment and lower fuel economy. Funny, he will spend the extra coin to emit more on his private jet flights so he does not have to ride on planes that us common folk ride on, but he will not spend it to lower his emissions on his rockets.
I agree in regards to people who roll coal. They are just being immature and wasting fuel. But there is no difference between these guys and the gasser hot rodders who do the same besides the fact that you cannot see the added emissions coming out of their tailpipe. If people could not see these emssions, then I would bet that they would have no problem with them just like they don't with tuned gasers that are emitting more greenhouse gasses than tuned diesels. The NOx and PM that diesels mainly emit are not greenhouse gasses.
Then their is the factor of a person who only owns one deleted diesel that does not roll coal. Why is he seen as the bad guy yet these millionaire movie stars/entertainers/sports players who have multiple vehicles, boats, planes, houses, and so on are adored yet they likely produce way more pollution that he does? Then you have these people who live in population dense areas like southern California. Having such a heavily congested area is very bad for the local environment yet these people will not move from the amenities of the city. It is because of these types of areas that diesel have to have these emissions devices yet I don't live anywhere near a place that populated.
