With three boys but wanting to "keep the weight down" I wouldn't go in either direction but instead to a triple bunk bed model, especially one like the KZ Spree 240BH model we owned ... two bunk beds at the rear of the trailer which run the entire width of the trailer and are therefore plenty long for anyone, along with a third bed that runs along the rear curb side of the trailer. Underneath the rear lower bed is a generous storage area which can be increased significantly during travel by simply raising the lower bed on it's hinges. The current version is the
KZ Spree 240BHS which is much shorter and lighter than any quad bunk bed trailer. It's a terrific floor plan for a family of four or five.
