engine oil level
I have an '03 Ford with the 6.0 diesel. At oil change time the level is higher than it should be. The dipstick is not milky like there is water or coolant getting in. Can this be fuel getting in somehow?

OK, maybe I missed it, but what about the Fuel contamination of the oil during those regen cycles where they dump all the extra fuel into the cylinders.
I'm not a Ford person, but I've read plenty of posts of Ford owners talking about the excess fuel getting past the rings and ending up in the oil. You probably won't know the answer for sure till you get the sample results back.
I was just surprised not to see some mention of it.
The 6.0 psd emissions system does not have a DPF therefore it doesn't have the regen process that is know to cause oil dilution.
The 6.0 psd generally doesn't have fuel dilution issues unless there's a mechanical failure.

Agree with the lab tests. However you might have been overfilled when it was changed. My "Quality Plus" Ford dealer put in 2-1/4 quarts too much of the wrong oil at my first oil change.
That's one reason I change my own oil. When the truck was new I had Walmart do the change as I watched. The employee proceeded to add a 13th quart of oil whereas my truck uses 12 quarts. If I hadn't stopped him the oil would have been overfilled.
BTW, When allowable I always watch the mechanic whenever my truck is worked on for any reason.
Even if they added 12 quarts it would still be about one quart over filled.
I let mine drain overnight and add a touch over 11.5 quarts and after running it and it sitting overnight on a level surface it is right on full. Look at the bottom of the pan design it can't drain it all out.
