- Dannyabear1ExplorerI am happy with it thats why I keep it and it only has 112,00 miles on it; I tow my Rockwood 2703ws with it and usually have the bed full of firewood, it drives as good as when empty.

It a non hd 3/4 TON. It has 8 bolt wheels.
It the same truck as a 2500 not to be confused with the 2500 hd.
This is correct///////
I have a 2002 1500 HD which is a 25oo non hd markings, they only come crew cab, 6 1/2' bed, 6.0 engine, 4l80e transmission, and 3;73 or 4;10 rear end
The 2500 hd of the same years was only available with 8' bed and had the body lift kit;
They are great towing vehicles but don't get much MPG and need an acre to turn the around.
Thanks that is more or less what the seller was telling me. The unit has the 3.73 rear end and is towing a 1/2 ton towable 5'ver.
On the surface it appears like this would be a good setup for someone not wanting to invest a ton of money. Sounds like you're very happy with your 1500HD. - Dannyabear1Explorer

No, it is a Chevy 1500. You can't buy one new this year, however, because they dropped that model for 2014. But there are used ones all over the place.
That is what I'm talking about, used not new. To be exact it is a 2003. - mleekampExplorer1500HD was an in-between model...between the 1500 and 2500. The payload and towing were more than a 1500 but not quite 2500. I dont' have the exact figures but I am sure they are online. Ford did the same thing for a few years...they had an F150, F250, and F250 Super Duty. Eventually, the Super Duty stayed and the F250 went away.
Bottom line: From a naming convention, the 1500HD went away. But, the 1500 evolved into a sort of HD model...look at the numbers today of a 1500 (and the axles, etc) and you can see a huge difference between current an 10 or 15 year older 1500. - naturistNomad IINo, it is a Chevy 1500.
