Legally you can't conceal carry in Ca if you're not a resident. They aren't even reciprocal with any other state.
When I travel into CA from OR I leave it locked in my secret place unloaded. Once setup then I'm in my own residence and it can be unlocked and loaded. I'm no expert but I didn't think you can do open carry in CA either. I'm just using CA as an example because I travel their once or twice a year. I did the same thing when I went to MT, WA, and ID last year on a 2 week trip.
Just wondering how you transport a loaded pistol across state lines legally?
I would love to see the house bill pass that allows conceal carry across state lines. Fingers crossed. - TerryallanExplorer II

what are the legal rules for inter-state travel carrying a firearm in an rv?
I only have personal knowledge about 2 states. May or may not help.
In NC you can conceal carry, OR open carry. Your choice. You can carry it on your hip, or in your pocket.
In SC. You CANNOT open carry. So if you are stopped and your weapon is in the open. It can be confiscated. - goducks10Explorer

I feel the chance is extremely small however. The chance of you being stopped are small and the chance of you being stopped without just cause are miniscule and even smaller is the possibility of being stopped without just cause and being searched.
If it were to happen to me and should I be arrested, I would place myself in the hands of the Courts. Convictions and imprisonment for the unintentional violation of a law discovered during a stop and search without probable cause is a violation of rights and can carry substantial costs to the arreating officer and his employer.
If you must carry and you are not willing to make sure you are within the law, you do stand the chance of being charged and arrested. Are you willing to suffer that? - ken56ExplorerHandgunlaw.us good site for state specific info. If you have a concealed carry license from the state you live in you are good to go in most states. Do your research and stay out of jail. I don't go to or even through states that deny my constitutional rights.
Here in Tennessee it is legal for a non resident to have a handgun in their vehicle without a CCW. Do not take it outside the vehicle if you do not have a carry license. You MUST have a license to carry in TN. - LwiddisExplorer IISo, mosseater, states have no right to regulate firearms? Please backup this assertion....with other than your opinion unless you are a scholar.

I don't need to go where the 2nd amendment isn't honored.
Agreed! Unfortunately, to get to states where you have rights, you sometimes have to go through states that deny rights. Do not take your gun TO Jersey or Maryland for starters. Do not. - azdryheatExplorerLock it up in a box? Unload it? What's the point even having a firearm if it isn't ready to go in an emergency? Mine is loaded and with me when on the road.
- LwiddisExplorer IICuzz if you isn’t a member in good standing with the militia, cool, I request your understanding of the 2nd Amendment in late 18th Century Americanized English. Wording, sentence structure etc. Such report by you should settle ALL doubts. PS-18th Century equals the 1700s. Long time ago but experts, they know.
