You are saying the axle bearings do not bear the weight when using coil springs? And so are not a limiting factor?

I'm no Mech. Engineer but that just doesn't make sense.

I did not say all but many and picked your picture of the landcruser as eksample.Very ekspensiv modification, and lazy axle makes 4 wheel drive useless, rather have my F350 with about11500GVM and 3500lb payload.

No, not all are. For a heavy TC, you need a Cab Chassis Euro Van, like the IVECO, or add a lazy axle and have an engineer certified increase in GVM. Easier to get a Euro Cab Chassis For an Asian sourced Ute, payload increased to 1.5 tonnes, 3,300lb as in the Lance DualCab example below. 6x6 conversion popular with Utlity vehicles, GVM goes to 9,000lb for the Landcruiser

Agree Bedlam - the driver of the vehicle or combination is responsible for it's safe adjustment and operation - not "the dealer"...

Hey, we saw a new RAM 1500 SB on the Tehachapi yesterday with a 20 some foot two axle bumper pull trailer. Must of had a Hemi, as he ran up the pass pretty good. The rear bumper was way down, the front of the trailer was way down and headlights would have been looking of the moon had it been dark, so I figured that he did not have an equalizer hitch. I passed him on the left and could not see the hitch, so with all the truck traffic, I let him pass me on the left so I could see his hitch. Sure enough he had an equalizer, but seem to not know how to set it up! Trailer had to be in the 6-7K range at the most. He head out across the Mojave at a faster pace than I want to drive, so it must have handle fair. He was however lucky in that yesterday winds in the area were 5-6 MPH. If it had been the 40-50 that occurs there a lot he would have parked it or wrecked it.

They must be built differently. In fact, I suspect that there are MANY differences between the US and Australia, in vehicle construction, road conditions, driver skills/attitudes, speeds, distances, and traffic.

Are you saying Australian drivers are more skilled? Have you direct experience with the Australian driver-education system?

I know it's a joke here in the states. The back woods town I grew up in taught me how to drive around on quiet backwoods roads with lazy speed limits - I was not very well prepared when I went away to college in Detroit, with huge expressways, hurried city driving and so much traffic.

Maybe Australian drivers are more skilled? Maybe there's less traffic? Maybe people there are more patient on the roads and tolerant of someone who is driving slower than the normal flow of traffic because they're hauling a heavy load? Maybe people there aren't scared to death of being held liable to the point of financial ruin for every little cut, scrape, or bruise?
