- B_O__PlentyExplorer IIThey come off the assembly line. They are the same truck with different trim. Both are priced about the same. It just depends on what name you want on the front..

Thanks!

NOPE!!! if you compare vehicles with the same base"LT, LTZ, Denali/High country" etc. and same options they are identically equipped. Now the appearance of the trim is likely to be slightly different, but esentially equivalent.
That was the case in 2004 when we got our Silverado, and remained the case when we bought our 2015 Denali. - gmckenzieExplorer

I have heard the talk about GMC being upmarket. Bull. They are the same. I focus on price first. When I found a chevy -- in a color I liked better than white -- I almost bought it. Then, did a quick look and found the EXACT same equipped truck at a GMC dealer...but in white...same discounts, etc. They had the same sticker, same options. I chose GMC because the grill design looked better.
My point...they are the same. For me, i shop price/features/options. (from a personal standpoint, I don't want a highly optioned vehicle...cost for one; simplicity for another reason)
I've got a 2015 GMC and there are a couple other, minor differences. The GMC of the same trim level has a SLIGHTLY nicer interior, stitching etc. But if you compare trim level to trim level (SLE to LT, SLT to LTZ etc.) and option them the same there is no real difference. I like the grill design of the GMC better, my brother liked the Chevy one better. I like the colour I got (metallic blue) better than the Chevy blue.
Focus more on the options than Chevy/GMC. - ktmrfsExplorer IIWe've had both. Equipped the same, the MSRP is identical or with a few dollars.
GMC for several years hasn't had the "work truck" base vehicle like chevy, and until a few years ago Chevy didn't have a "Denali" level, but now Chevy has the "high country" which is basically the same as the Denali feature wise.
IMHO, pick whichever one suites your fancy. When we bought our 04.5, we picked the silverado because we liked the looks better. When we bought our 2015, liked the GMC Denali looks and color choices. Between the two you will find some color combo's that aren't overlapping. The 2015 High country interior color wasn't to our liking, and didn't have the same color choices as the Denali. There are trim differences, mostly for looks. And often GMC colors will have different names than Chevy but be exactly the same color with the same color code.
So look at both of them and decide which one you like the best for looks, interior, etc. because function wise equiv trim levels will be identical. - BenKExplorerUncle Bill always bought Pontiac's and therefore GMC pickups. Non Chevy dealers
didn't want a Chevy on their 'new' section and GM rebadged Chevy's with GMC
so that they could also sell pickups
He taught me GVWR GAWR and why he always bought the 'curb' or 'stripper' models
for his custom SS sheetmetal shop.
Always with a wooden bed floor too. Nailed stuff down for the delivery trip, of
which I hated in the summer because there was no AC...
Somewhere around the 90's or so, GMC's became much more high end vs Chevy. As
the option mix was greater and of higher end than offered on Chevy's
I ordered my GMC Suburban because the semi truck dealer only offered GMC's and
the Chevy dealers all (had over 6 deposits at different dealers) all called to
say my order came in...to find it was a 'half ton'...they knew no difference...
Too funny...as have had several discussions with folks who bought
Yukon XL's and told me that they were NOT based on Suburbans... :S - mleekampExplorerI have a GMC. Why did I pick it over the Chevy? The grill design looked better. That's it. They are exactly the same truck. You might find slightly different materials...but they are the same.

Jeremiah - ShinerBockExplorerThere are some things you can get in a GMC that you cannot in a Chevy like magnetic ride control and an 8" customisable gauge display.

The LTZ is the top of the line with trim and would compare with the GMC. The LTZ will have the higher resale for Chevy. Have fun shopping. I wished my truck had 18 inch tires there easier to find and with a higher pay load then the fancy 20,s
We have a Silverado right now and thinking of upgrading. When you go to a GMC from a Silverado are you getting your monies worth or is it all eyewash?
