GM Number One in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Next door nieghbor works at a Nissan dealer. Always giving me poop about my American built junk. See his beloved Nissan is at the bottom of the heap.

I love some of you guys. GM make is on the bottom of the quality list and you are sure to point it out. They make the top and it is of no significant value. :S :h

Correct, we never had to either on our POS 2010 Tahoe. Syncing the phone worked just fine and was separate from on star.

The wife has been very pleased with her 2011 Traverse. Excellent fit and finish and no problems so far after about 20K miles. Seems to be a very good vehicle.

Yes BUT. Ford is a brand of vehicle, Chevrolet is a brand of vehicle, GMC is a brand of truck, Buick is a Brand of vehicle. Lincoln, Is a brand of vehicle. And IF you look you will see that Ford is the best selling BRAND. Meaning, that more Fords were sold, than Chevrolets were sold, or more than Buicks were sold, or more than Toyotas were sold.

Now, Did the Ford company sell more than the GM company? Nope. But true to the commercial. The Ford brand is the top selling brand in the US. IF GM didn't have so many brands. they could claim that top number. But just like GMC trucks, and Chevrolet trucks. They each sell less than Ford trucks, and actually for the last several years have sold less trucks together than Ford has sold trucks.
So yes there are brands of vehicles

I am not either. I have the sync, you would figure at age 38 I would be into it. No so much. But I had to figure out the phone for the wife. The Blue tooth is nice. She can talk without touching anything.
Just more time for her to nag or um coach me. :)

OK I'll bite. What's wrong with sync? Mine has it, and it works great. My friends have a new Chevy, and can't sync to their cell phone unless they pay for OnStar. My Sync to my phone is free.

Your friend is doing it wrong. They need to understand Blue Tooth.

Since buying new my 2002 Silverado 2500HD had to have new tailgate cables, a battery, and the bow-tie in the grille started peeling. I forced GM to fix everything but the battery on their dime. :M

My wife's 2001 2500HD has been worse. We had to replace the left front unit wheel bearing, the battery, and the fuel gauge sending unit. :M

I am astonished that you can't buy a truck that won't make it 12 years before giving you problems. :M

I'm having the same quality problems with my 2002 2500HD 8.1/Alison, supercharged from day one. 230,000 miles and I finally had to change the water pump and do a brake job. Best vehicle I've ever owned.

The supplier to GM of the tailgate cables did not crimp the the cable ends correctly and they were also incorrectly tested and certified during their production. The improper crimp could have caused cable pullout with corrosion weakening over time as moisture etc could collect in the loose crimp voids and compromise the assembly.

Only a few had failed but GM recalled the trucks that had them installed as the possible failure would only get worse with aging. It cost the supplier dearly and if I remember correctly, either it finally bankrupted them or they were dropped as a supplier. Was around 10 years ago.

Causing a recall due to production errors is a cardinal sin! Certifying discrepantly manufactured components as meeting specifications is a double sin!
