Host Everest vs the Eagle Cap 1165

I had my Flush King from the previous 5th wheel. I had to get a 12" straight extension to incorporate the flush king as it won't twist on the valve body due to the confined space. It's probably the only rv with the black tank valve and fittings at eye level standing up. Because of the height, a longer flex dump hose is a better choice to carry.

I have an Aspen sb triple slide. It has a similar layout and the two dump locations are the same as the Everest. For the space gained by having the toilet and sink in the slide and the dual bedroom access it is worth it and not really a big deal. I have no complaints about my host it is well worth taking a look at.

There is two dump valves/locations in the Mammoth and current generation Everest campers. The grey water connection is under the generator compartment with the cable pull for the valve in the gennie compartment; the valve itself is deep inside the basement. The black dump valve/connection is in the slide itself, as previously posted it's all hard line with the toilet is directly connected to the tank, and the bathroom sink also drains into this tank.

I had Host install a black tank flush system at the factory, during the build. A dealer/owner can easily add one, there is plenty of large access points to do so.

Yes, the black tank when it gets full would get heavy, but Host uses a heavy duty slide mechanism. I normally dump the black as soon as possible, just to keep the CG down, but I like to drive it around a bit before dumping because I like mine shaken, not stirred :).

If I haven't dumped since there is a total lack of dumps around the SF Bay area, I use quick connect system for water and a Sewer Solution to pump the tanks into a sewer clean out at home.

I guess it depends on the people, but I don't think most people will have that much weight in just the black tank at a time. I think this means the weight in the slide would be insignificant compared to the weight of the slide. Of course, this assumes that you would dump from time to time or be out in the boonies and not continuously use the toilet!

It's the black tank that's in the slide, with the toilet also mounted in the slide, all hard piped. The dump valve and outlet are also in the slide. If there is a black tank flush it would also be completely contained in the slide.

But yes I would agree with your comments about the extra weight in the slide.

So the black tank has its own dedicated dump valve?
That is different...I never heard of a setup like that before. I guess if you put the head and therefore the tank in the slide that makes sense.

This would place a significant load on the slide mech when extended...even a 30 gal tank could approach 300# or more!
A tank in the slide would also require "soft" plumbing...not rigid PVC.
This does not seem like a good idea at all...

That makes sense that the extra height would help with cleaning out the tank. When I was at the Host dealer checking out the 2016 Mammoth and Everest neither one I looked at had the black tank flush installed? I guess a dealer (or owner) could install it themselves?
My thought about having the black tank up high and off center in the slide was if it could cause a handling issue if someone was driving with the tank full (or even 1/2 full)? Does Host make any warnings against traveling with the black tank full? I would think most people would dump the tank before leaving a campground, but that my not be possible if you are dry camping out in the middle of nowhere.

From several trips to the factory due to the sliding door design (which is now fixed), I saw several mammoths under construction.

Things I know:

I did not see a vacuum system in use; I did see a large pinch style system.

The frame is all aluminum, welded together, foam blocks between the framing, luan/fiberglass outside, paneling inside with the wall paper already attached (btw, if it gets too damaged, they cannot repair it properly..) pinched/glued/laminated together.

They build from the basement up, floor, hang walls, build up the front cabover, place roof, place slides.

Roof is TPO type material, with a very thin 1/4" plywood sheet.

The slides are also wrapped totally with roofing material. Top, bottom and sides, so no water penetration.

In the Mammoth/Everest, the water tank is at the front basement bulk head, the grey is behind it, giving almost 6+ ft of storage in the basement. The grey dump valve is inside in the basement near the grey tank (cannot freeze that way). Adding water also shifts the center of gravity forward and places more weight on the front axle (and of course, the rear axle)

All plumbing is pex (red/blue) based with the crimp style connections. The gas line is copper except for the slide flex connections.

There is a city water fill in the generator compartment that is open to the elements, along with a shower system (which I changed from shower to pluggable spray system). The furnace dumps heat near a 8"x8" cut out in the basement to keep it from freezing in that area.

The battery compartment is sized for 2ea 6v batteries. 2ea Group 29 batteries will not fit (I tried.)

The **** fireplace at first was a 'uhm, do we really need it', and turned into a 'what would we do with out it' because..

It's also an electric furnace capable of heating the camper. When on shore power, we can save on propane, and let the furnace run only when it's really, really cold.
