- RedRocket204ExplorerNot sure what process defects or materials defects have to do with if aluminum can be painted sufficiently. Was that peeling paint orange oxidation on aluminum?
Trying to misrepresent facts does not make for a good argument from you... again. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

Aluminum bodies aren't all they are all they are cracked up to be. Aluminum has been used for years on car bodies. Maybe it won't rust orange but it carodes just as easy and easier in some cases. Plenty of pant problems will still exist and it's more expensive to repair. Ford is doing it for fuel milage purposes not for the longevity of the body. But it is a good marketing scheme because the general public thinks aluminum = no body problems
Are you speculating or presenting facts concerning auto aluminum body panels?
I've had cars with aluminum body panels for 12 years now and not a single concern or issue with oxidation and paint. That includes living 2 blocks from the ocean for 9 of those years and now in the mountains the last 3. So I'm going to speculate here but... if aluminum car body panels were just as easy or easier to get oxidation I would have seen it by now especially considering the locations I've lived along with the time I've owned those cars.
Seems you are just speculating.
Skid is not speculating at all.
Listen to this report.
Maybe you will believe Fords own TSB? TSB reference number 04-25-1.
Ford wins this one. Mustang owners, not so much.
The bottom line is, Ford is having a lot of corrosion problems with their aluminum painted parts. I would nut up if this happened to my 50 grand Mustang. - shepstoneExplorer

Part of the reason why I jumped in and bought a 2016. Some of the tech is going to be cool though! Love the idea of the 360 sensors, and my saleman was telling me about the joystick device to park your trailer using the backup camera. I'll let a few years go by and hopefully the kinks, and then who knows!
For the soccer moms who don't know how to back a trailer...
Yeah but soccer moms are people too!.. Seriously though I think maybe there is too much tech going on sometimes. Not sure if I like the new 17's yet, perhaps the pics don't do them justice . - N-TroubleExplorer

The downside to the new ones is that the prices are expected to jump 4-5 grand for the basic set ups, more for the Titanium and King Ranch.
Well, Titanium is more expensive than aluminum! - lawnspecialtiesExplorer

Exactly. My '15 is new and I'm totally happy with it. I'll get a new truck when the need arises. Not because its a new version.
The '17s are going to be awesome and I bet they sell a whole bunch. But unless Publisher's Clearing House comes knocking on my door anytime soon, I'm fine where I am. - Redterpos3ExplorerPart of the reason why I jumped in and bought a 2016.
