Is NADA a good reference for TCs?

**Disclaimer**
I'm selling a TC. NOT the one in my sig. I love my Eagle Cap. And I'm not going to disclose what kind or type of TC I'm selling.
**end disclaimer**

Here's my problem - It's been over a month, my former TC is still here. I've gone through and added up in NADA the options (the ones it's really supposed to have), listed it, and have only gotten a few responses. I'm roughly 10% under what NADA says it should be, no bites.

What reference point do you price a TC at under NADA? Or do you use something else to valuate it?

  • Don't know about in your area but your old TC brand (I won't post the brand but I do know what it is) does not sell well at all in our region and if used are very hard to sell unless discounted a lot. Comments we've heard from new and used dealers are that they are way overpriced for the TC they are and that they tend to show aging faster than many other brands. Something the TC buying public will notice very quickly in CG's an at dealers etc. Just what we've actually noticed and personally heard! Still, I'm wishing you Good luck on selling your used unit as they are far more popular on the west coast than in other regions of the country.
  • Since TC's aren't the most popular RV on the road, size and weight can really narrow the market for interest in your unit. It is also somewhat the end of traditional camping season. To sell now, you need a specific hunter wanting what you've got for his hunting camp.
  • I'm in the same boat. I have my prior camper for sale and priced it below NADA. In 2 months I've only had one call and it was a person looking to put it in a 20 year old small toyota. I'm beginning to think it may have to do with the part of the country I live.
  • I have always used the NADA guide for both selling and buying a TC. Another thing I do is check the prices of the specific TC in different areas around the US.

This is how I determined the price of my 1999 Lance 1030 that I sold on eBay. I placed the "buy it now" add on a Sunday morning and had a buyer send an email while I was in church services that he was on the way with cash in hand.

I had posted lots of pictures and facts about the condition of the TC.

Another thing I consider, is what I paid for it, how long I have had it, what modification I performed, and how much I paid for the replacement.

I now have my 4th TC, broke even on selling the first two, and had to pony up a couple thousand more than I intended on the last purchase where I traded in instead of selling outright.

How about any others like yours for sale? Is there a brand-specific forum you can post on to ask others what they paid for like models?
