Yes, the head pivots up and down via the spring bars. When you are ready to unhook, you release tension on the spring bars until they are "sloppy loose". When you pull out the stinger, you don't touch the spring bars. This keeps the hitch head in the same position. Yes the hitch head remains in place and you simply back and hitch in the same location as you unhitched.
On rare occasions you may run into an issue where you cannot exit the way you pulled in due to a parked car or some other obstruction that was not there.
With a ball hitch you can hitch at any angle and the ball will always drop on. However with a HA/PP once in a blue moon you may want to angle in differently than you unhitched. This can create a headache, however once you have experience you can recognize these situations and adjust accordingly.

Because of the way the head swivels, is the trailer slower to react when turning in reverse? It seems to me like it would be because the head might need to swivel to the other side before the trailer starts turning.

It is not any slower. The hitch head shifts very quickly when backing up - within a foot or less. And even as the head is taking the set, you are initiating the turn so the head is turning at the same time. You do not lose any reaction time.

It's a great hitch, takes a lot of stress out of towing a long TT.

I had the bump a few times and it was no big deal. I would sometimes dial back my Prodigy controller when going slow around town (to avoid too much trailer braking / chattering at slow speeds). Was more of a surprise than anything. Once it found the sweet spot with my controller it wasn't an issue.

Hitch is definitely worth it. I did have to fiddle a bit with the mounting of the jacks to the TT to keep them perpendicular to the TT, the standard mounting arrangement wasn't ideal for my TT and the jacks would sometimes slip a bit and tilt. Easy fix. I think Sean has tips to help with this when needed. He is very responsive with support issues.

This recent ProPride Bump thread was posted by a ProPride owner who experienced recurring bumps when towing with a truck which had an integrated brake controller.

He was unable to eliminate the bump problem and decided to replace the ProPride with a Reese SC.

On a similar note. There is a thread on the Open Range forum of a member that disconnected his integrated brake controller and installed a Prodigy to eliminate the bump.
It is critical to set your trailer brakes ahead in order to avoid the bump. If the integrated controller does not have a boost or advance function, I imagine there will be excessive bump issues.
Instead of ditching the PP hitch the Air Forum member could have ditched his integrated controller.

This recent ProPride Bump thread was posted by a ProPride owner who experienced recurring bumps when towing with a truck which had an integrated brake controller.

He was unable to eliminate the bump problem and decided to replace the ProPride with a Reese SC.

I only felt the bump once at the first trip. After I adjusted the breaks I did not feel it anymore.

I towed using the HA with an F150 and a Ram CTD. Never really an issue with the F150, however it was with the CTD using the exhaust brake. I tow with the EB on all the time and don't use the brakes all that much unless it's a tight corner.
That style of braking won't work with the HA. You need the trailer brakes to always be activated enough to create drag on the truck. That will keep the trailer form pushing into the tow vehicle. A diesel with an aggressive EB like the Rams never activates the trailers brakes.
