Mice Proofing

Seal as best you're able. In my experience, nothing which won't keep you out will keep them out (except a cat ;) ). Glue and multi-catch traps are good, because they capture them quickly, hopefully before they cause damage. Supplement with bait traps. I've never had a problem with dead mice stinking things up - they're small and dry out pretty quickly after they die. The smell comes more when they're around long enough to build nests and pee on things - hence the traps.

As stated. Close all entry points. If you do see signs that mice or rats are getting in try to find the entry point quickly. I have used sticky pads to catch them. Much higher catch rate that traps. I have had my truck damaged from rodents two different times now. Finally found the entry point. Good luck.
And mothballs do nothing but stink.

I think one of the best things you can do is get rid of everything and anything they would consider food. This means not only real food but medicines, chemicals, etc.

not peppermint spray,,peppermint oil. and fresh cab works for me. farmers use the product fresh cab in there big machines.

and you can add glass shards to the steel wool if you like.
As a managing agent I once witnessed the damage a rat did to a porcelain tile embedded in several inches of cement floor. Overnight he made it through at least 3 inches of the floor before the exterminator arrived:E

Everybody has their own techniques. There is no universal method that works for all parties all the time.

You can try various elixirs but I have found that sealing as good as you can and traps work as well as anything. This assumes you can check the traps before the mouse starts to smell.

Personally, I am convinced mice can, at times, walk though walls. :)

Best is to prevent entry in the first place. Big box stores sell rodent proof spray foam. Add steel mesh, steel wood it something like that that they cannot chew through followed by the foam spray and they will not be able to get in.
