need help on how to fix my front left corner

I'm a new member and here is my first post and it's a doosy lol. I have an older 1977 bendix aristocrat she's an oldie but goodie. I'm out camping going home tomorrow, but I noticed that it looks like someone at my storage place hit my front corner of my camper. Of course I can't say for sure but the corner is popped open by about one inch and there is scraping on the trim strip. The wood is broken and showing some signs of rot so I wanna fix it. How do I go about doing that? I do have some carpentry skill, but I don't have the money to pay to have it fixed nor do I have the money to buy another camper. Any advice or info would be great thanks in advance. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how from my phone.
  • My former class C had a serious issue on the rear passenger's side corner. By the time I had it most of the wood was gone. I injected it with great stuff foam and covered it over with Eternabond. It was leak free in that area for the next 7 years.

In your shoes I'd fix it properly--then inject with great stuff.
  • I have had the same issue and fixed as per the recommendations noted above
  • My first call would be to my insurance company (if it is insured) to see if they will cover it. My second call would be to and RV repair shop to see what they would charge.

In both cases you will know what it will cost to have it done by someone else.

If you do not have the money to fix it and have some carpentry skills then the suggestions already given should help you do the fix yourself.

Get it to a covered place where you can work on it. Start removing the corner moulding, then the siding, then the insulation. Once its opened up you will see what needs to be done. Older RVs are not rocket science. Basic 2X2 wood construction, so if you have the tools and skills its not difficult.

I agree not rocket science but time comsuming and need for some tools you might not have but Harbor freight or HD rental. Just think it through if renting tools to use and return a quick as possible.
