Love the engine...but it needs to have a payload of at least 2500 lbs, 3000 lbs payload would be ideal...obviously if payload is not sufficient than all you have is a great motor without the platform to haul heavy.

Agree, "IF" it's being put into a 1/2 ton, one will need to see what RAWR is going to be, as well as GCWR....and at this time, are there plans for a 3/4 ton truck from Nissan? Like some time this year? IF there are and it's RAWR and GCWR meet or beat the competitions ratings..then Nissan will have something great, especially if they have competitive pricing.

Assuming they can price it appropriately. They've got to undercut the Duramax/Ram Cummins/Powerstroke 3/4 tons at least a little, or they're in trouble.

Agreed, I could not get any info on pricing at the NAAS in Detroit in January. Was told it would be out sometime in the second quarter of 2015. Wounder what is holding up the launch?

  • Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I hope they are successful. I still think that more diesel options is the future of the automotive industry in America.
  • I had a Titan for a couple of years. Great truck, once they got the diff issues worked out. Wish they'd kept it more competitive. But I liked mine.

Throw a Cummins in a new model, and it should compete well in the heavy-1500 to light-2500 range. That covers a lot of TTs and lighter 5ers. That Cummins name buys a LOT of credibility.

"Expected availability late 2015" at the end of the video clip.

  • It'll have it's limitations like any other truck...BUT it's got a huge advantage with the Cummins diesel engine...a known commodity with a great reputation...It'll fill a niche in the truck market....nothing wrong with that....
  • I loved my old Nissan, but I don't know if this would be a good match for my current 5th wheel.
