At the 2016 Houston Auto Show, I looked at a Titan HD Cummins that had a payload of just over 1300 lb. Your 754 lb tongue weight would chew up much of that.

Sounds to me like you need a real 2500 truck rather than a wannabe 2500 truck.

Check that payload on that Titan. You may find that it is not sufficient to carry the tongue weight of a 30' camper. This one has a payload of 1488 lbs.

For that size trailer I think you would be happy with a bigger Cummins.

I would go with the GMC without a doubt.

You will be happier with the GM IMO.

Titan XD diesel is not a 3/4 ton, it's a glorified half ton that has less payload than a none HD payload package Ford F150 half ton.

It's priced just as high as a Ford F250 diesel that has much higher payload.

After having a 2004 Titan and seeing how badly it was designed, and put together, with it being a garage queen, I ditched it after a year of ownership. Some said that generation of Titan got better around 2007/2008 when they redesigned the rear differential and brakes. Being so, I definitely would let that "newer" Titan mature as I found out, Nissan is not as reliable as Honda, Toyota, or Ford.

I'd look at a Ford or GMC diesel as I feel they are much more reliable than Nissan.

BTW, that Nissan Titan XD needs a GVWR of 10,000 lbs like Ford and Chevy, not a measly 8800 lbs which is much to low for the heavy chassis and then the heavy Diesel engine. It's built to just carry it's own weight and not much else.

You have the old 2016 Dmax and new 2017 Dmax numbers conflated. The new one is indeed 910b/ft but the hp is up to 445 bhp from 397.

If you want a new Cummins go with the 6.7

My experience with Nissan is that they don't stand behind their warranty. I'd go with the GMC 2500.

Another vote for the GMC. I don't remember what the numbers were but I know I wasn't impressed with the fuel economy of the smaller Cummins. The Duramax is pretty hard to beat for a light truck engine.

Very interesting vehicles to compare. This is like comparing a Toyota Corolla to BMW 5 series... they both have gas engines, so lets compare them.
