Wait 2 more years for the SuperDuty aluminum body truck with the 5.0 EcoBeast. I'll be in line for that one. That'll have the new Sync in it also, get rid of that MicroSoft mistake.
That could be a very much non starter. It will be just a 5 litre turbocharged engine, not even mildly Ecoboost
If it gets turbos it will be a ecoboost, its what Ford does now.
I agree with ib516 , it will not be an Ecoboost, but a turbo engine with a large thirst under ,load. That is what Turbo engines do and the Ecoboost 3.5 already does that - RobertRyanExplorer

The 3.5L V6 EcoBoost gets V8 fuel economy. What would a 5.0L V8 get? Same as the old V10s?
Yes correct, an Ecoboost that size would be a contradiction in terms. We have a 4litre Straight six turbo in the Ford Falcon, Similar power and torque, as the 3.5 , flat torque curve, but considered thirsty here, although fuel use is very similar to to the 3.5
Unlike the 3.5 you can really crank the engine up. Street engines getting 1000hp - hone_eagleExplorer

Ford Stockholders have done well. Ford is by far the highest return investment of the big 3 historically.
not in the last 52 weeks...
low high
Ford $13.26 - 18.12
GM $28.82 - 39.77
FCAU $8.54 - 13.76
Had you bought low and sold high GM would have made you $6.95/share,
FCAU would have got you $5.22/share and Ford would have netted you a grand total of $4.86/share. With FCAU at a lower share price, one could have bought more shares for less money, then the other 2 and made off with a pretty decent return, if bought low and sold high.
52 week window $1000 dollar investment
Ford 75 sharesx$4.86=$364.50 increase
GM 35 sharesx$6.95=$243.25 increase
Ford increase 36.66% Dividend per share .15
GM increase 37.99% Dividend per share .30 no dividends paid prior to 2014
FCAU Increase 61.12% Dividend per share .0
Having said that I bought Ford at 1.43 and have been paid dividends quarterly for the last 7 years.
More to consider than a 52 week window of share price. - hone_eagleExplorer

Worse when on boost ,better when the driver has a lite foot-could be interesting in a heavy truck like a super duty ,but it will be a bit lighter by then too. - dshelleyExplorerA lot of debate over what the next gas engine offering will be to power heavy duty Ford pickups. The Ecoboost was an engineering success but provides Eco OR boost, not both. A V8 version may not be the best solution. I imagine we will see a small engine, v6 or v8 and electric motor working together. Were seeing hybrid technology in more and more performance cars these days and as the cost continues to go down it seems a likely choice for heavy duty uses.

- hone_eagleExplorerThe V10 got a reprieve out to 2018 ,but before that a replacement will have to be here.
Guessing the first limited production is a year out ,first sale 2016?
Same time as the new aluninum SD ? - v10superdutyExplorer

ecoboost 5.0,they already build the na 5.0 and it has always had the mounts and bosses cast in -ready to be machined .
I recall telling the guys at work when we learned this, that we would probably see a V8 Ecoboost in the Superduty within a few years. Was wrong but I still think it will happen.
Thinking the way Ford plans out, since the 6.7 diesel was also new at that time, they were probably being ready in case new Powerstroke didn't go over well. It mostly did except for a few guys.. :W
Once the new P/S was obviously a hit, they would not want to lose sales to a lower profit gas engine.. (Which would have happened and still would today I suppose)
There are many out there who just don't want a diesel and once they offer this V8 Eco I bet they would have to add shift at the Kentucky plant..
This could happen when they intro the aluminum Superduty??:@
