On our TT with 2 sewer outlets, the front outlet is just feet from our sewer connection in the ground. The rear is about 16 feet away. The front sewer hose is 10 ft, the rear is 20 ft they connect to a wye that is on the sewer connection in the ground.

If we were at a dump station, I wouldn't use the wye. I'd setup the front with the 10 foot hose and dump. While the front is emptying, I'd connect the 20 foot hose to the rear. When the front is done, disconnect it front the dump station and connect the rear. I'd pack up the front while dumping the rear. No jockeying of TT necessary.

Yeah, the issue isn't having multiple tanks, of either black or grey variety. The issue is he has 2 separate sewer outlets. The outlets where the stinky slinky connects.

Usually when trailers have two, one is in front of the axles and one is behind. A Wye connection takes care of it when on a site with sewer. But if you use a drive-through dump station it means jockeying the trailer to dump a second time. I wouldn't like it either.

I'll bet it annoys the guy behind you in line at the dump station too, when he thinks you are done, starts his truck in anticipation, and then he sees you only move 10' and start connecting again. His problem, sure, but expect the occasional stark glare at you.

1. This thread started because someone had two separate grey tanks.
2, Someone else said he was glad his black tank and grey tank were separate tanks.
3. Someone else asked why?
4. I posted that if you had a single tank for black and grey, combined, you would know the answer if it ever backed up into the shower, like a grey tank can do.

Not sure I understand how your black tank can back up into your shower, they all have separate valves that close them off. And if your parked and they all are open and they back up, well there is a bigger problem.

Had a Cougar with 2 gray and one black tank, and a single drain point, worked great. Sold it last fall and was looking for a new trailer this month. Found a floor plan that we liked but had 2 separate drain points for the sewer. NO good in my opinion, we went with a different trailer.

Reason: I really don't like messing around with sewer hoses, so the less hose the easier, that is what works for me.

Let your grey/black combo tank back up into your shower one time, and you will know the answer.

Our current TT has 2 black tanks and 2 grey tanks. We use a Y connector at the park sewer connection and connect both hoses to the Y. We camp seasonally, so it isn't much of a big deal. We do break down the sewer when we leave, so only have to connect and disconnect once. If we used the TT for shorter trips it would probably be a hassle.

I’ve had both...front gray alone with a rear drain combining black and rear bathroom gray, and gray and black combined into a single drain. Handy having them combined, but it wouldn’t be a decision maker for me on a trailer...

Never had 2 grey tanks ~~ BUT ~~ sure want my grey tank and my black tank SEPARATE. JM2¢ ~~ YMMV
