The way you wired up your upfitter switch as I understand it is when the switch is on you send power to the reverse light circuit in order to send the backup signal to the head unit? Does this in effect trigger your backup lights?

You are correct, but it does not trigger the backup lights because I used a diode that only allows power to go FROM the light to the head unit. The diode is placed close to the tap-in point before it T's into the other wire of course.
