I purchased the tailgate harness from Ford and then spliced in an inexpensive backup camera. Works great. I too have the Ford Sync system. I looked for a way to tie into the "trigger" so that I could turn the camera on while driving. All of the Ford wiring diagrams I found for the 2011+ models indicate there is no "Switch" like there were in previous models. Its a bus signal sent by the transmission control unit. This is why you have to buy one of the Lockpick type devices to make it work with the stock Sync system while in drive.
