I've got shore power and full propane so it's staying 70 degrees inside the TC but I can feel the outside cold radiating in on the walls.I had a hankering to make some sourdough pancakes but a lot of stuff for cooking wasn't put back into the TC after the last big trip thorough cleaning. As an experiment in enginuity, and hunger, I decided to get creative and try to make sourdough pancakes using a ziploc bag as the mixing vessel. I mixed Fleischmann's yeast with warm water in the ziploc, then added butter milk, flour, and sugar. So far so good, the batter is sitting in the ziploc on the stove doing it's thing till morning when I'll try to finish the mix adding salt, egg, and baking soda. Fortunately I do have butter and Real Maple syrup. Full report on results to follow. Apologies for the yet to be edited video of the whole process.

Sounds good. Need to try some walnuts in the mix next time if you can. Its a great flavor with the real maple syrup.

Use apple sauce instead of milk to make the batter with a couple shakes of cinnamon. Equal apple sauce to flour amounts plus a little water, milk, or buttermilk to get right consistency. Works great.

No worries about the bag popping during the night and the yeast invading the camper?? Or did you leave it vented?

Looks to have doubled in size so far with lots of room to go. Big is sealed closed and not a lot of gas off from the yeast. The bag is in a pot just for such a contingency. T minus 5 hours till chow time.

Perhaps not true purist sourdough but we still had pancakes that tasted and smelled of sourdough and were quite good. You do what you can on the road.

A good dollop of Sour Cream will fix those pancakes up pretty good too!

I hate to burst your bubble but there is no way to make sourdough pancakes over night. It will take at least 5 to 7 days just to make a sourdough starter. It looks like you managed to make buttermilk pancakes but not sourdough.

TC's really need to be better insulated in general.

Good luck with the hot cakes btw. Don't forget to keep the vent open and the fan on low when cooking.

On that note, I just looked at the windows (single pane) and there is no condensation at all on any of them. It's probably because I have my 1000 watt electric baseboard heater running solid the last 5 days keeping things dry.

Just about to make the sourdough pancakes. Just waiting for my friend Dave to show up. It's for food, he'll be here on time or early

Good idea on the applesauce. I will try that next time. Applesauce on your toast tastes way better than sugary jam too.
