- janstey58ExplorerI have dealt with two Camping Worlds and also local Mom and Pop dealers and it is night and day!! The M&P want to keep your business as long as possible and treat you well. Not CW.

Camping World has no independent dealers. They are all corporate owned.
I think the problem is that people are more apt to complain about a vendor to a forum than praise a vendor on a forum. High pressure sales seems to be kind of the norm for most dealerships both chain and mom and pop. Camping world may not have any more disgruntled customers than other dealers. But it's the sheer number of independent dealerships that makes camping world stand out.
For example compare Camping World with 36 independent dealerships (Wikipedia) to a single mom and pop dealer.
To make it easier lets say each dealer sells 10 RV's a month and has a complaint rate if 1 complaint per month reported to this forum.
Camping world with 36 dealerships and 1 complaint per dealer we see 36 posts complaining about camping world for every 360 RV's sold.
Mom and Pop dealer has same complaint of 1 out of every 10 sold and we see only 1 complaint.
So now when we look at the forum we see it lit up with complaints (36)about camping world and only 1 complaint about the mom and pop dealer. So even though the complaint rate is the same (1 in 10) it appears that Camping world is doing a much worse job than the mom and pop. - BillyBob_JimExploreranyone want to bet how long it takes before this thread magically vanishes?
- janstey58ExplorerPutting aside the corrupt Camping World RV financing and sales tactics, just try to have warranty work done from one of their stores. 90% of the time they don't fix it the first time, and after many many return trips, complaints and headaches they MIGHT fix it. Trust me, they are TERRIBLE!!
- I got 'locked' into one of those 20 years loans from my local dealer. It had a very favorable interest rate and no prepayment fees. Paid in five years. Whoops ;)
And the darn entry level trailer has served well for almost 15 years.
I really got taken. - wanderingaimlesExplorerAnd the $2k in fees is along with predatory lending programs to lock consumers into 20 year loans on trailers with 5 year life expectancy in the case of the low end units, so they are upside down in the loan for the entire life of the loan.
Yes it's a Let the buyer beware world, but, neophytes taking a shellacking is CW's bread and butter.

I spent thousands of dollars there but now honor his wishes. - toedtoesExplorer IIIFor me, I don't hate them. I just don't go there. :)
I find their prices are high, their customer service is hit and miss, and while they are quick to resolve issues brought here on the forum, I hear of too many problems happening in general. I prefer a place that will prevent problems not resolve them.
Personally, I couldn't care less about the politics garbage - if I stopped going everywhere that had an employee, owner, manager with a different viewpoint than mine, I would be home 364 days a year. - $2,000 in extra fees? I am already gone long before those fees are paid.
