I winterized my TT with compressed air through the city water inlet with my compressor set at 25 PSI. I went through and opened each valve one at a time for over an hour. I uncapped the low point drains and the hot water tank plug. Of course emptied the Black and Grey tanks and let drain for an hour or so too. My problem is that the tanks still read that there is some in them? I know they have lied to me before. Is there any way there could still be water in my fresh water tank after opening and purging EVERYTHING with air, uncoupling the pump and leaving all low point caps and plugs out?Sorry for being so long winded. This is my first TT and winterizing.

First, unless you pumped air down the drain. You didn't purge the tanks. After draining the tanks. You don't have any thing in there. however. I would suggest closing the Black tank, put your chemicals in, and add 5 gallons to avoid the DRY tank smell. Also close the low point drains, and the grey tank, but you don't have to put any water in it.No 5 gal won't hurt the black tank. There will be plenty of room for the water to expand as it freezes.

You mention opening the low-point drains, but did you also open the fresh water drain valve to empty the tank? There should be one under the tank under the trailer. You'll probably have to get down and look under the fresh water tank.

Don't forget to pour some RV antifreeze in the P traps.It will keep the smell out of your TT.

Just an FYI: if you have an outside shower make sure it's drained and you should pour some RV antifreeze into your P-traps. I also keep antifreeze in the toilet bowl. A little water in your holding tanks doesn't hurt anything

Yes! Way to go... This is IMHO the ONLY way to winterize. Pink stuff down the drain traps, in the bowls, and all tanks & LPD's opened drained and closed. WH drained and bypassed also. Good Job!

I'd drain the black and grey tanks too. My BIL neglected to after winterizing. Left -20deg weather for South Carolina, the tanks were broken and split by the ice blocks bouncing in the tanks. Required complete re-fit of tanks and dump lines. Not cheap.

Last thing i do after compressed air winterizing is dump tanks (have access to septic tanks :) A gallon of pink down the toilet and some over the flush seal, a gallon between the traps for kitchen, tub and vanity completes the job.

Do you have a black tank flush? Should be blown out also if you have one.

I run my air pressure up to 40 lbs PSI. Is you have a washer dryer make sure those water lines are blown out. Put RV anti freeze in the washer and spin it out so that p trap is protected. I also blow air through ice maker, outside shower. A little water in your black and grey tanks won't hurt them but I totall drain them. I want the rv anti freeze to cover those valves. Also rv anti freeze in toilet. If you have an internal Water filter be sure to remove the filter and empty that filter housing of water.

You have to drain the fresh water tank separately. Blowing air thru the city water connection will not drain the tank.

If any tank gauges show any reading after you know they are empty, it's the gauge sensor that's wrong and you don't have to worry too much about it..
