Harley Davidson did the same thing, and they still say they got their start in 1903 or thereabouts. Besides, who cares?
Did it die? It would not have even kept the name if it did. There is such thing in corporate world where even if you have a negative equity, deader than dead but still have a pulse, the still is considered a "going concern". Otherwise, it would have been liquidated (shooting an injured horse analogy) and assets sold and no longer allowed to operate.
That did not happen to GM. It got medicated and able to payback the assistance that they got. - fj12ryderExplorer III

Guess we'll find out in 2036 when they're still producing ICE powered vehicles.
And do you think GM, a 112 years old car company made a mistake in not producing anymore gas vehicle bay 2035? - fj12ryderExplorer III

Well, so far, that thread is about the only thing that hints that the semi is a real thing. You sure can't tell it by the number on the streets. :)kellem wrote:
HD? There is a big thread on the Tesla Semi. Is that HD?
Fact:
There will be more petroleum vehicles on the road 20 years from now as battery technology hasn't even scratched the surface and likely never will in HD applications.....it's commuter technology only.
Yes might be a long time before mobile construction and excavation equipment gives up diesel. Although I could see some converting depending on the situation. - Yosemite_Sam1Explorer

If your old dog died at age 15 and you get a new one, is it age 16? GM went to zero, it ceased to exist.

For years some of the underground mining equipment has run on electricity. The portable crusher and screening plant we moved half dozen times uses electric motors all over it. 1 of the trailers is a big gen-set and battery bank. They tell me that while running below a certain output power is stored to help with the starting load on the big motors.
I know of a few water drilling rigs that use vegetable oil in hydraulics. If a leak happens it is much cheaper to clean up.
The oil companies understand that demand for gasoline will go down. They are pushing more uses for plastic to have a market for what they still have in the ground. - LynnmorExplorer

I guess they made a mistake when they went belly up about a dozen years ago, only to be brought back to life by those that pay taxes. I my opinion, it is not an old company and the first 100 years shouldn't be counted.
GM stockholders think they made a right decision in going full EV as it's price is on the way. up. again after the announcement.
