Peak kodiak sc83 camper leaking help

Hi Westkodiak! Mine a 98'! Its fun to know that there another owner of this exact camper!
I think the leak came from the front overhang nose trim, i am not sure but time will tell , as when doing a leak test it continued dripping for a couple hours after i did it. The hot water acces is a perfect drip spot too, put caulk and gorilla tape on the inside bottom and isolated that spot by taping plastic over since i knew it leaked too!.put a rubber trim around the edge to slow the water flow inside, in the future i will put an alum drip cap over it.
I can see a sort of rusted steel under the sink drain, it should be the tiedown! I can touch it with the end of my finger. I redid the whole caulking of the camper around every window/light acces door and every trim.the only thing i did not do is to remove all the whole trim to change the butyl tape under it and inspect. Caulked over and under it all around it took around 9 tube of caulk and a can of thinner to clean everything hahaha. I have all the appliance books for the camper and some specs floor plans if you need any infos

Hello Peak kodiak sc83, I have the same camper -1995 model- and love it. I took a look at mine and the tie down point in question may be able to be accessed under the kitchen sink. There is a panel under the sink that should provide access to the tie down area.

The sink drains also are in the area above your leak as well as two water lines. It may be possible the leaks are from one of those?

I don't know how your leak test worked out to see if the water is coming from an external source, but it may be worth checking the sink drain plumbing as it is pretty easy to see.

It's from the bathroom/counter propane stove/water heater side tie down, maybe its a reversed plan layout on the smaller Sc83 compared to the bigger k99 . And Yes its not an ideal setup where the side wall and bottom shell meet, the side wall is under/inside the bottom shell fiberglass where they meet, so naturally the water goes inside and leak! I am trying to isolate the leak with a water hose and i think it comes from the front nose and maybe drip from there!I will know when i do another leak test, im resealing it right now
. Good to know how to have access to the tie down on dinette side. On the other side i would have to tear everything apart i guess, how the tie down hold inside? Bolted to wood on botton shell? Thx everybody!

Leaky window seals are fairly common. Get a good duct tape, such as Gorilla, and tape around that window. If the leaking stops, you will at least know the general source.

Go inside and remove the plywood from under the dinette cousions , and you should be able to see where that tie down in connected to the camper shell, and look close and see if you can follow the water trail, the top clearance lights also like to leak, and the water will flow down the shell to that spot.

The trim on these campers covers the separation between the fiberglass shell and wall insert, these 2 spots do not overlap like northern lite and Bigfoot...so if that trim has pulled away it can leak from there as well.

I checked the water hose piping and i don't think it come from that spot,water pump not cycling, water was running down from the exterior water heater acces door and down the casing which sealed.i have sealed with new caulk around the bunk window, which is the bedroom window right? But is there something i am missing? Like a molding that need attention where that bunk window slide ? I appreciate your help ! I really want to get that camper in perfect condition and keep it a long time ;)

Oh, also, check the hose for your water fill spot on your left front, I seem to remember the hose going into the water tank from that leaking at bit at one point as well....turn on your water pump and see if it cycles every so often without use, and that will tell you if the fresh water system is leaking internally....you should be able to unscrew the plywood under the dinette to gain access to most of the components on that side

Check the fittings on the water heater, mine had a slight leak and dripped out of that spot.....also had a leaky bunk window on the other side, water would run down the shell and drip out of the hold down on that side lol...that said, wicked tough campers, and always have a cool look.

Yes thank you midnightsadie, i did all around seam, just not the front top one on the cabover! And today is raining so it's gonna be tomorrow to find it . Around light which seam okay but i will do them too! Can it leak inside the molding trim? The end where it goes to the bottom seem to be caulked, can it cause problem or water is suppose to go over the trim?

get up there and check all seams and around lights ,use the evry best rv sealer you can get. look inside for any water stains, and around the windows good luck ,nice rig.
