I 90 coming West out of Buffalo NY

I-90 crosses over I-20 just past Westfield. My final destination is the Edgewood area. 90 is a toll road. Would I be doing myself any favors by getting off around Westfield and traveling the 20 on down to Edgewood? Thanks to all who reply.

You need a new map! I-90 and I-20 never cross and are quite a distance apart!

Actually - I-90 DOES cross I-20 just west of the Pennsylvania state line.

Actually Interstate 20 runs 1,535 miles from Kent Texas to Florence South Carolina. No where near Pennsylvania. I stand by my original statement..You need a new map! Or maybe a lesson in United Sates geography.

Why so curmudgeonly? The people he was asking knew he meant US20.

  • If you take US20 through Irving, NY you will be on Sovereign nation land and the gas/diesel is as much as 50 cents a gallon cheaper. Propane is less expensive as well. This time of year it is not a bad ride at all

Interstate 20 runs from western Texas to South Carolina, and is many hundreds of miles from Interstate 90. US highway 20, which I believe is what the poster was referring to, does intersect Interstate 90 where you mention.

  • If you mean US20, that's the old Boston Post Road and is like all other US routes. These roads were designed to connect cities and towns, not bypass them like the interstate system does. Bob is correct - a lot of small towns.

I like taking the old US routes wherever I can - and I have some extra time. You can follow US20 all the way to the west coast; it's the longest US route in the country. It loses it's US route designation when it goes through Yellowstone, so it's not the longest contiguously numbered US route. The distinction goes to US 6 which runs from Provincetown Mass to Bishop CA.
  • Where are you starting out? How much are you hoping to save by avoiding the I90 toll? Where is Edgewood?

  • I would take route 5 west from Silver Creek! Less tolls and is a good road, only 2 lane, but it runs along the lake, a nice drive.

Route 20 in NY has a lot of small towns and speed traps.
