No Shaw Service in USA

Just brought our RV to Prince Edward Island for the summer season,Hooked up the Shaw Satelite nothing called and found that starting June 1st need a second account that will cost 50% of the package you have at your principal residence. Got every thing set up with the second account a service guy is suppose to show up Wednesday to install the new LB etc.
The big problem as i see it is when we go South for the Winter The lady we were talking to said no more US service. You can suspended this service for up to 10 months so guess when we are ready to go South and we get this second account activated just don't tell them where we are headed and hope that it will work in the US.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this.

Thank you to all of you for the updates and great advice. We called Shaw yesterday, set the receiver to channel 299 and voila we had full service and 88% signal strength. We are happy! Our poor friend, though, has tried everything and can get nothing although his receiver fired up first try on our satellite dish. Unfortunately he had his LNB updated at home and he has an old LNB here so he likely is out of luck. Have a good winter everyone!

Depending on where he is at, just buy one of the new ones down here or have someone send him one from home. The mail/courier companies go south as well as north.

For the people who are now in the South are you using the new Lb with your your second account(RV account)or are you using the LB from your House? I brought the receiver i use in the RV in summer tried to get it to work in House no go. Called Shaw they said it would not work because it is assigned to out second account and since it is on hold it will not work. Asked to have the RV receiver put on house account told couldn't do that as one receiver has to stay on my second account.
So when i go south after Xmas what LB should i take? One from house or the one on my portable dish also have the old LB one before i upgraded.Going to set up my portable in Garage next week sounds like after talking to Shaw this evening that the portable will not work as it is on hold. Will i have to take my portable account off hold? I realize that this is long but just trying to get something to work before leaving.
thanks everyone

In your situation I would take the new LNB and the receiver from the house. Just remember that you will NOT get any stations from the new satelite but you will get everything you got last year off the old satellites. Once you have a receiver's software upgraded to get the new programming off the new satellite it will no longer work on any OLD LNB.

Gadget guy has got it right. We upgraded to the 630 with the new LNB at home in 2012, went on the road with the old LNB on the dish for the RV, shaw reprogrammed the 630 to work with the old LNB (done via phone when on the road). Got home, Shaw reprogrammed the 630 to work with the new LNB at home, got a new LNB for the RV, no more problems!

I'm the one who restarted this thread in October and, ironically, we cannot get any reception with our 600 receiver using the dish that's been in place all summer. We've fine tuned the dish and are getting excellent reception through our friend's old ESR 317 receiver and another friend's 600. Our 600 was used down here (Mesa) all last year. Another friend in the same park is having identical issues. The online refresh does not work. So, off to Shaw to get a fix without letting them know where we are...

you must have had your receiver upgraded with the new software when at home this past summer so if I understand things correctly you will need the new LNB for it to work. if you had NOT upgraded the software you would still be OK.

Sounds like you have the wrong LNB wantoroam. You need to have the same type as you have at home for it to work.

HAVE NEW TRIPLE LNB + 600 RECEIVER
HAS WORKED ALL THRU WESTERN STATES AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
SAME AS HOME.
LOTS OF BAD INFORMATION AND SCARE FOR NOTHING!!

The ONLY, ONLY, ONLY difference between Southern States and Canada, even with new LNB and upgraded reciever, is the new G1 bird is not accesable in the South. All existing content stays the same as previous years regardless of what LNB and reciever you have. Just make sure the receiver is a 600 series if you have the new LNB and the software on the reciever has been upgraded to accept the new LNB.

While we are not as far south as you yet (only in Arkansas heading west)we have good reception with our 630 PVR and new LNB, I expect that we won't have a problem in southern California when we get there. We used the same equipment last year in California without problems.

Thanks for all the info re tickets. Sorry to hijack the thread and get so far off topic. Back on topic we are in Yuma now and our Shaw Direct works the same as last year with all the channels we had previously. The only channels missing are the new ones on the recently launched bird G1 and of course there is no tech support.

That's good to know Gadget Guy. Yeah the Flames really took it to the Caps. I'm a big Canucks fan and follow while down south. We drive from Quartzsite to Glendale to see the Canucks play the Coyotes a couple of times during the winter. The price of the tickets are outstanding.

Where do you get your tickets? Would like to see a couple of games.

I see that you are in Yuma in winter time. I think it is Buffalo tours that run hockey packages, they are listed in the white pages. Last year for $110.00 would give you a game ticket plus coach ride right to the Jobbing Centre at Glendale and bring you back after the game. They have a few pickup places in Yuma and area including the old Fry's place in the foothills. We have done both the tour as well as driving and the tour is better because they do the driving.
