How Easy is it to Hire Someone to Transport

What is the big deal? Most FW set for months without moving if you are a snowbird. I ran into a man in Alabama who has done this for years. He contacts a local RV dealer in the area when he wants to move and gets a referral to a driver. He jacks up and stabilizes the FW while it is setting to take the load off the tires and then lubricates prior to towing. How is this any different from anyone who stores over the winter and then uses for a few weeks in the summer. As long as the tires are safe and the wheel bearings / lights are checked, I would say go for it............

If he's going to stay put for two years at a time, I agree with the poster who said to just rent an apartment.

There are RV's designed for living in while working in cold conditions however most are Travel trailer type RV's, not as high and everything on one floor level. While they are more work to hook up and not as stable to tow, as your dad won't be the one towing or hooking up it wouldn't matter. Something to think about.

To clarify - he would be as close as he could but be in a warm climate. I have an RV and know about the difficulties of cold weather. He also does not want to be in cold weather.

The rig will also need adequate ACs for hot southern climates. I would not consider any rig that is not 50A for starters.

You should read up on living in a RV in cold climates. Yes it can be done but it takes a lot of setup and planning. RV's have thin walls, floors and ceilings and hence are poorly insulated. He will use a lot of electricity and propane for heat and heat pumps do not work below mid 30 degrees.

He does not know how far he will be moving. My brother has a job where he needs to move every 2 years. He has lived in Michigan, DC, Ohio and California.

How much would it cost to get the fifth wheel going again? Would he be better off with another solution? It is hard and expensive to pack up all your stuff and move it so I thought a fifth wheel would make it easier. Is my thinking wrong?
