Only 500 lbs? If you're under the tire and axle specs, that's a piffle, IMO. :-) If you can load towards the nose, and not overload your truck, go for it, but for 500 lbs, I wouldn't make a huge effort, if well under specs. Just my $0.02...

these are all good ideas the truck cant be lowered yes it is a king ranch if i lower itthe oil pan is in the way i looked at dexter products and new axel are more then i want to spend and putting it higher with the picture frame is is to much money thanks i will just sell the hitch to my sister who is getter her first fiver and sell the truck and just tow with the srw thanks for the help

Dexter makes the KIT and you say Dexter doesn't recommend it :H

What is a "tad nose high"? IMO, 2-3" isn't much to worry about. That's about what I have and my fridge runs just fine and my tires wear equally. More than this, and you really need to look at lowering your truck or raising your trailer.

Is the King Ranch a 4x4? If so could it be that some of the factory lift is just there for marketing purposes unless you were going to do extreme, high speed off road? Maybe there is a lowering kit.

I will be looking for a 4x4 dually in a couple of years and need to find out which of the big 3 lend themselves to lowering. Would be easier for people and dogs to enter as well.

I realize this would require a shift from "Monster Truck" coolness to "Low Rider" coolness. I am trying to prepare psychologically for that now.

I'd say that's interesting, except going through the same thing myself. Have a Ram with Flagstaff fiver and the trailer sits just a tad nose high. I don't want less gap between bed rails and trailer - it's minimum now. I talked to Dexter and they recommended new axles with a steeper start angle. He told me the spacer kit was not recommended. Do you have room for bigger tires on the trailer?
