Someone help please...Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C

Same here - ours is hard-wired and twice in campgrounds, it's detected low voltage or faulty and protected our unit.

Just wanted to update. Got a call from the repairman today. We only lost the converter and microwave (Keurig coffee maker too but we will have to replace that ourselves). They said they checked everything thoroughly and everything else checked out good. They replaced the converter today and installed the EMS but had to order the microwave. The microwave we had has been discontinued and the replacement is 1 3/8" taller so he will have to trim the cabinetry a little but assured me it will look perfect. I am super excited to know NO other damage was found. I have really been nervous waiting to hear.

Get a new repairman. Mine has saved me 4 times due to low voltage. Each time, the power was shut off until the problem was corrected.

Can someone please chime in here because I am REALLY CONFUSED! Thanks!

If my repair guy told me that, I would be looking for a new repair guy post haste......

The PI you have has a bypass mode if the low voltage cutoffs bother anyone. As far as removing them, yep, to install in the next rv I'm buying.

My only comment on the install of the HW50 is it requires only 2 things to install. The ability to read instructions and follow diagrams. I installed my own and had one issue I caused which was easily corrected.
I bought a short 30 inch piece of stranded wire for $6.00 for the outlet side to the breaker panel and wrestled the inlet side as there was more play in the OEM cable from the plug.

At this point, unless we have trouble with their insurance company, it is looking like we will only be out of pocket for a short time and then reimbursed for damages.

I fully intend to get the EMS system installed regardless of repairman opinion (even if he isn't the one to install). I bought the darn thing a year ago. DH looked at it but was uncomfortable installing himself. Unfortunately, we never got around to taking somewhere to have it done and are seriously regretting it now. While everyone else is out camping on the 4th, we are sitting in our sticks and bricks wondering "what to do?" This has definitely put a damper on our fun.

I'll post an update after repairs are done and let y'all know what the final verdict was with this repairman on the EMS. As I already stated, it WILL be installed even if I have to take somewhere else but I really believe he will do it and just didn't fully understand what I had bought.

Only one comment, if this dude has been in the RV repair business for 30 years and doesn't know what this device is, run, don't walk somewhere else.

The man doing the repairs has done rv repairs for more than 30 years. People I know and trust have used his services without complaint. We, fortunately, have never needed a repairman till now. I am going to give him a shot and pray that everything is fixed to our satisfaction. I honestly believe it will be.

Yes get it installed. My coach came with one but two years ago I changed it out for one that gives greater protection. Did it myself in 30 minutes. The park where we are staying was zapped last night and all was well with us but others not so lucky.

1. Find it hard to believe anyone (as the repair person states) would remove something that has saved their RV (as well as their wallet) from expensive damage and repairs - unless they are very, very uninformed..:?

2. Why would any repair person have a negative opinion of a device which obviously would have prevented the damage *YOU* incurred?..:?

Consequently -IMO- the ability and credibility of the repair person is very much in doubt..:(

IMO - I would be looking for a different repair person - even if it was 200 miles away.
