Someone help please...Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C

I posted on here recently that our electrical system was zapped while we were in a state park. The electric company was replacing ground wires and accidently removed the neutral wire when they pulled the panel. It took out converter, microwave & coffee maker for sure. Other possible damages will be assessed when we are able to get it in for service on the 16th.

Anyway, we purchased a Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C about a year ago but never got it installed. I asked repairman on phone if he could possibly install it when he fixes the rest of our issues. He said yes but advised he spends more time removing them than installing and they aren't really necessary.

Now I am really confused.

I asked him if it would have saved my appliances in this instance and he said yes but the most common problem is low voltage vs high. He said the EMS system I purchased would not protect against low voltage. Everything I read here states otherwise. I googled & printed manuals to look at since the unit is in the storage bay of the camper at a different location than I am. I appears this product does in fact protect against low voltage also. Can someone please chime in here because I am REALLY CONFUSED! Thanks!
