Tear in rubber roof

I would suggest that if you ever find yourself in need of something to repair your TT , TC or MH you stay away from HD. They simply do not have the proper products we should use. If you are anywhere near a large body of water there will be a Marine Supply Store nearby. If it is used on a boat, it will work on our vehicles!
I've spent years working in and around boats and I've never found any home type silicone products that holds up to the vibration, sun, and wind that a boat or camper puts it through.

Make sure whatever "Silicone" you are using is NOT petroleum based. Petroleum based products will deteriorate the rubber roof material.

I have had no problem with Eternabond wrapping over edges. The key is to ensure the surface is clean before applying the tape. I did not use alcohol to clean the rubber. I used soap and water and then rinsed thoroughly with clean water and let dry. It is a royal pain in the rear to remove that tape if you ever need to do so.

Alcohol will evaporate so fast it won't have time to affect the rubber. All you want to do is get anything "oily" off the surface so the Eternabond sticks real well.

I agree. No need to glue down those little tears. I would trim the little flaps and then lay the eternabond on top.

I did the same thing when we bought our rig. The first thing I did was run a long strip of Eternabond along the edge of the roof.

I also have had some small tears and have repaired them with Eternabond. I even had a section that bubbled up from some sort of shampoo that was leaking from a roof compartment. I cut the bubble out and then used a wide piece of Eternabond tape.

The first time I ripped the roof I was on the road. I went to an RV dealer and he sold me the earthbond and a tube of silicone sealer. I went through an entire 50ft. roll in the 11 years I had the fiver. I usually damaged the roof with rain in the near future and no rv place to buy dicor. I went to Wally World, Home Depot etc. and bought fast setting silicone. The patches never leaked. I know you should not use it to seal the seams on the side as they vibrate. As I said it worked well for me.

Everything I have read said use silicone for your household bathroom repairs and keep it away from the RV. Dicor is the recommended sealer and it isn't silicone...
