2004 Monaco Windsor Electrical problems

While plugged into shoreline we turned off the air conditioners and lost all electrical in coach. Reset at pedestal and had electricity for about 1/2 hour. Tried the generator but it would only run for several seconds and then shut down. Any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem might be?
  • I suspect you have 2 problems.

    1. You need to troubleshoot the loss of AC power in the coach.
a} Is it a coach problem or the CG pedestal?
    b) Do you have a 30amp or 50 amp coach?
    c) Start at the main breaker panel checking for incoming voltage.

    2. Once you figure out the 120VAC problem you can start troubleshooting the generator. The problems may not even be related.
  • Check your oil and water levels in gen set, mine needed a new oil seƱsor, it keep saying low oil pressure. been fine for 2 years now
  • Replaced transfer switch with a new one. Removed power cord reel and wired it directly to the transfer switch to eliminate the power cord. Generator will not run pass warm up stage. Generator faults with 3 and secondary fault of 2.
  • You need to diagnose the problem (assuming you are safe working around 120 VAC):

Do you have 120 VAC at the ATS from shore power? From generator? At the ATS "out" to the breaker box under both shore and generator?

If the answer is yes, check at the 120 VAC breaker box.

Let us know what you find.
  • I have changed out the transfer switch but am still getting no power.
  • First guess would be a loose ground inside the coach, probably at the circuit breaker panel or at the transfer switch.
  • Check transfer box connection...Need more information...do you have 12v power for lights etc...or do you have absolutely nothing...
