40' diesel highest HP

Any input as to who makes the highest HP diesel engine in a 40' sized motor home?

I was looking at a 2014 Dynamax Grand Sport GT with 525 hp but it was sold and they have discontinued this model.

agree & we (truck conversions) START at 1650 tq....and our 2nd axles are DRIVEN (not simple tags) axles...very tough to put us close much less OVER our GCWR

Haulmark, Renegade, Show Hauler, etc (basically all the class 8 chassis tractor types, like mine) have 450hp as the base engine & go to 650hp or more if you like. This is true regardless of the Chassis manufacture, i.e.: Freightliner, Volvo, International, P-Built etc.

only in the last couple of years have they started moving away from the 12 or 13 speed Smart/Auto Shifts and started installing the 6 speed Allison (torque converter) autos - I prefer the 12 or 13 speed smart shifts (no clutch pedal / dry clutch) over any torque converter automatic.

Mike, just curious why you say to stay clear of the 650 ISX.

Talking to a Cummins tech once when we had our previous coach in for service, he told me the 600 HP Cummins was very difficult to work on in the Signature Series Monaco due to the very tight fit.

Mark I'm not sure if it's in this thread I didn't read through it but I guess their is a known problem with the head. Look for other posts by this user on irv2

I'm guessing our coach is/was a record holder for highest power to weight. I don't know if anything made today that comes close.

Older Bluebird Wanderlodge's had the 505HP Cat, as well.

Might want to take WEIGHT into consideration when asking the HP question.

One of the best HP/weight ratios is the no slide Foretravel U320 with Cummins M engine. 450/500 HP in reasonably light weight coach. Came in 36 and 40'

Older Beaver Marquis had 505 hp Cat C-12 later Patriot thunder and Marquis models go to 600 hp but not sure if any are 40'....might be larger.
