Camping near St Louis arriving very late.

there is a campground about 5 miles from the downtown area in St Louis not far from the arch or the American center, we stayed there last summer for a week.

Casino Queen RV Park is 5 miles from the center. I would park there instead of the center. It has a 24 hour shuttle to the Metro Link station. The Metro Link stops at the convention center. Or the shuttle might just drop you off at the convention center. It's a nice RV park. I would make reservations. They offer Good Sam or AAA discounts.

When ever we need a late night spot we will always just go to the local Wal*Mart -- well lit no rocks or trees to hit in the dark -- Generally the neighbors understand if you arrive late.

Many Wal*Mart's in the St Louis area are camper restricted so if this is your choice call ahead -- Wal*Mart Map

If you are coming from the west on I70 there is a place nere by St. Charles on I370 called 370 rv park.

There is a nice KOA on the westside of St Louis. We stayed there last month, and it was comfortable. Nice owners.

We frequent St Louis and we keep coming back to Sundermeier. It has it's fans and those that rip it. It is close enough to practically anything in the city. Now if only someone would build something like this arms reach from Chicago we would be there in a heart beat. Have fun.

We have mixed feelings about being that far away from the event/kids, having no idea what kind of "party" it will be.

BTW:40 miles outside of Chicago - straight west, there is a very nice Forest Preserve. Big Rig friendly. I have parking lot camped downtown Chicago many years ago, I still remember hearing the gun shots out my window. Gotta love Chicago.

I don't remember the name and yes it very close to downtown and it appears to be a parking lot downtown, it was where we needed to be at the time, the 370 in St Charles is better to look at but it to is like a very nice parking lot as well.

St. Louis RV Park is in downtown. It is tight and the neighborhood looks a little rough but we stayed for a few days, had no issues and its location makes up for everything else. We had the Smart with but with 3 people, one 89, we used taxis and the highest fair was about $16.00. It is on Jefferson and is 6 miles from The Pageant.

If you drop the kids off and "hang-out", there are tons of things to do near the Pageant, especially for adults. Just do a search for the U-City Loop. With only having a couple of hours, you could spend that entire time checking out the St Louis Walk of Fame. There are good restaurants including Blueberry Hill were you may run into Chuck Berry.

And with school starting back up, people watching is at a premium due to it's close proximaty to Washington University. Sometimes that in itself is worth the price of admission, which by the way is free.

I would suggest arriving early enough to arrive and set-up at a campground and then take the towed into U-City. Parking is hard enough to find for cars let alone a MH. You find plenty of things to keep you busy while the kids are at their event, enough that you may even want to bring them back the next day to see "The Loop".
