Dash Cam

ddda, if you search around using Google you'll find some that are part of your rearview mirror and have remotes. Not saying they are any good, just available.

I read the detailed info on Dash Cam Talk, then on YouTube watched the videos by "Techmoan" and decided he was right. A dash cam needs to be simple, no GPS or G-sensors (Bump Detector). Just good video with date and time stamping.

I purchased a G1W-C from FoxOffer with 32gig card, mirror mount, and camera for $92 free shipping from China. The C stands for capacitor which holds the camera long enough to close the file without corruption. You'll be lucky to have battery last a year before its bad, or dead and corrupts the files because they won't close right when you turn off the key and you don't know the battery is bad.

We'll see if I made the right decision. I sure was not going to put a GoPro $300 camera on my dash and connect and disconnect it for something other use. All I need is a dash cam that goes on and off with the key and is simple and reliable. We'll find out.

Can't beat the GoPro. I ran from Memphis to St Louis on a charge. Could have swore I seen a dead Monkey on the side of 55 around Perryville,but I can't find it on the playback. My wife says I'm NUTS.

Also can put it on your helmet and jump out a plane. Can't get her to do it .

I just purchased the PH1 from http://www.planethalo.com/dash-cam/ph1/ . It is small and even has a gps map to show where you were at the time. Barely noticeable behind the rear view mirror.

You might want to take a look at this one Mobius Dash Cam I have been using one in my Jeep for the past few months and it has been working great.

That is exactly right. I hook mine up to the 12 volt outlet on my dash and use a 64Gig SD card. This will give me 8 hours of recording at 1080. If I were recording traffic in front of me in case of an accident, 720 is more than sufficient for excellent video quality and that will extend your recording time, with a 64 Gig SD to 15-16 hours.

For $200 you could get a Gopro camera that loops and has real HD quality.
