E450 swivel seat

I believe every Ford cut-away chassis will have a step up from cab floor to house floor. In our case it is a small 2", not enough to put your knees into your chest when sitting in a swiveled front seat.

We find the passenger swivel seat "essential" when we have other people coming inside to hang out, usually on weekend get-aways with other family on a rainy day and after dark. For just the two of us, we never swivel the front passenger seat. It's not hard to do if done in the right order. But we promptly draw the privacy curtain which then complicates the process. If you wonder, we can use the privacy curtain with the seat swiveled, though snug and finicky.

I thought about doing this for some time but after thinking about the price of the swivel and dealing with the tight area around the seat to get it to swivel I changed my mind. If I need another seat I just use a bag chair being I have room with a slide-out and I use the passenger seat to hold the clothes hamper. If I had a Chevy it would be easy being they have more room by the doghouse but the Fords are just too cramped.

This is off-topic, but regarding cab heat that may be coming mostly from the floor in your E450, you might want to crawl underneath sometime and take a look to see if it has heat shields installed between the engine exhaust pipes and the cab floor. Here's some photos of the heat shields that came on my E450 Class C - I don't know if Ford or Winnebago installed these:

Again off topic, but regarding heat in the cockpit, has anyone lined the exterior of the doghous with that Dinamat insulation material?? I've heard it really works.

Interesting. With ours you fold the backrest forward all the way and pivot. No need to open the door.

The seat will turn...!!!! but it is tricky....!!!!! first you put seat all the way forward. Now you make sure the seat back is straight up and down. make sure you have the door open....!!!! Now it will swivel. you have to have door open on mine.

We have a 2012 E450 with swivel seats and dont use them. Would prefer some from like an F2-350. The seats sit too low to be of any use and the drivers seat is a waste of time. Their big claim to fame is 'flexsteel' but IMO thats about it. These are also manual only.

Have asked if anyone knew if the seats from an F2 or 350 would interchange but never got an answer. We just dont want or need the swivel seats.

I have a 2010 Coachman Freelander on an 08 450 chassis. The passenger seat could not recline at all due to a dinette bench seat that was installed behind it. I removed the dinette seat. Could recline the seat, but passenger foot room was still very limited. I re-drilled the floor mount and was able to get another 2 1/4 inches of leg room. Helped a lot. While I had the mount out I installed a honeycomb reflective aluminum foil insulation layer under the carpet. Also a big improvement. The seat is not plush; pretty much a standard leather-like seat. I could put a swivel on it. Might have to remove the only arm rest (left side) to swivel. Due to the layout of our interior I wouldn't gain anything by swiveling.

If anyone finds out if this will work on a 2014 E450, please post you findings. Local Ford dealer says it can't be done, and our '14 is very tight. I wait with anticipation.
