Forest River Sunseeker fresh water valves

My friend has a 2012 Forest River 32' Sunseeker Class C and she is having problems finding the fresh water tank drain valve, the valve for switching between city water and fresh water tank, and the low point drain valves.

I've look in all compartments, crawled under the coach looking for tubes hanging down and/or valves.....without finding any of them.

Does anyone with knowledge of this particular model have any helpful hints on finding these valves?

thanks,

Ron
  • Not sure about the 2014, but my 2010, a Coachmen branded but made by Forest River after they purchased Coachmen, has a locking door on the driver side just forward of the rear wheel. It contains two female hose attachments and three 90 degree valves. The labels for these valves are tiny print and hard to decipher. I've found nothing documenting them, and replaced 3 water pumps before I realized I had the valves set wrong which allowed air to be drawn in by the pump. Set them wrong and your fresh water tank overflows. Hopefully Forest River by now has revamped that horrible Coachmen legacy. May have to spend a few hours experimenting (and documenting) the results of various valve settings.

I have three 90 degree valves on the inside floor underneath my sink which drain: fresh water tank, hot water tank, and one is labeled low water drain. Search under the coach for 2 or 3 small hoses extending about 6 inches below the floor. The valves will be above those hoses. My fresh water tank is in a closed compartment under the bathroom sink (have to remove several screws securing a panel).
  • Absolutely....you guys are great. Thank you so much. I will pass this info along to my friend.

    again thanks a million

  • I have a 2014 Sunseeker 2250 my water drains are under coach next to the entry door 2 capped hoses blue and red. You should have a city water hook up where you screw the hose onto, and for water(tank) a different connection, both of these should be on drivers side. hope this helps

Also, one more tidbit. When she is hooked up to city water, it fills the tank and then forces water out of the water inlet for when boondocking. Is this normal? That's why I was looking for a valve that would switch from city water to tank water.

    Something does not sound right.

When hooked up to city water (specific city water hook-up, separate from fresh water tank fill hook-up), it should not be filling the "Tank", should be just pressurizing the lines to faucets & toilets, to provide water to the unit.

When connected to city water couple ways for it to fill fresh water tank.
    1) Most common--Water pump internal check valve NOT closing so city water pressure backflows thru pump. Rebuild pump OR for $10 install an in-line check valve on pump suction line.
    2) Water works/utility/wet panel......fill valve leaking thru which goes to fresh water tank. Rebuild/replace valve

Ok, thanks. Can you tell me where (which compartment) exactly? Telling me it's next to the in-house filter doesn't really help as this is not my mh and I'm not familiar with it. I assume it is the wet bay compartment? And when you say it is an in-line toggle valve...that confuses me. It doesn't have a handle?

Sorry for the confusion, I just need more specific info as I'm totally ignorant of this mh.

    thanks

On mine, on the passenger side, is a smaller general storage compartment right behind the rear wheels (not the large garage one), inside this compartment the back wall is a hatch, removable panel, which accesses where the in-house water filter is (glass screw on canister, with a water filter in it). This is also where the water pump is located.

in-line toggle valve. = A lever (handle), that swings just to two positions, either open or closed, this lever (handle), is actually spliced right into the fresh water line (in-line).

    This compartment

inside compartment (sorry blurry pic), panel just has a swing latch

in-house water-filter and water pump -Blue line fresh water drain

Close up of in-line valve (in closed position), swings down to open -drain fresh water.

Newer Sunseeker and a little smaller one, but may be similar due to hidden location.

  • I have a 2014, the fresh water drain, is inside a compartment, next to in-house filter system.

It is a toggle in-line valve, there should still be a drain tube coming out of bottom of unit. Mine is two tubes, one is water heater drain, which is just a cap at end of hose, the other hose no cap, just have to go into compartment, next to water filter to get to valve, to drain.

"the valve for switching between city water and fresh water tank", there is not a valve to switch between City or fresh, on mine, once city water attached, it pressurizes the system, water pump not needed. When on fresh tank only, just need water pump on.
