- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIFor me and my driving schedule it would be Nashville to Little Rock just to overnight. Then onto OK City to visit the National Museum and Memorial. It is very impressive and informative. You should visit during the day and then return in the evening.
Next stop Amarillo, TX and a visit to Palo Duro Canyon and, if you must, visit the world famous Big Texan for dinner. (South of the Border is also famous but why does anyone go there!)
That puts me less than 300 miles from Albuquerque making an easy drive in. Hopefully, you are going in October for the Ballon Fiesta but if you are you better make plans now as most of the RV parks are already booked! - SleepyBadgerExplorerWe just went this summer and pushed it to make Albuquerque in 3 days from Huntsville Alabama. Our first stop was Lake Dardanelle State Park just west of Little Rock (https://www.arkansasstateparks.com//park-finder/park.aspx?id=6). Nice park with stuff to do for kids if you have kids.
Second stop was Fort Amarillo RV park. Spaces were tight but wifi worked and it was really just a place to rest after that long drive (526 miles). Yeah it was a long drive but its flat, set the cruise and go.
In Albuquerque we stayed at the Albuquerque North/Bernalillo KOA. Well kept and level. Spaces were tight but we'd go again. Wifi worked great. - Branson_N_TucsoExplorer IIWe go every winter down to AZ. We stop first night in little Rock and stay at the Down Town River RV Park on the North Side. A Good Sam Park. Easy on and off for I-40. Beautiful park right on the river with the city all lite up at night. Believe cost $20.00 a night. Plenty of pull thru also. They have a walking bridge that takes you right over the river to the historic area and also the Clinton libary.
- BB_TXNomadAre you taking I-40 all the way? We have stayed at the KOA just east of Oklahoma City and would again. And have stayed at Fort Amarillo RV Resort on the west edge of Amarillo numerous times.
I-40, like most interstates, varies from very good newly rebuilt to aging and very rough and will change back and forth as you drive. - Mr_Mark1ExplorerThe American RV Park on the west side of Albuquerque is very nice. We have stayed there 3 times over the years. Camping World is across the street a little west of the RV Park.
Coming from the east driving westward as you approach Albuquerque, is the longest downhill ride. My mpg indicator gets very happy during that 15 mile or so decline.
Safe travels,
MM. - Two_JayhawksExplorerSpeaking of Route 66 RV Resort if you plan to stay a day or two this is a really nice RV park also.
- Home_on_WheelsExplorerDon't know the route you will be taking, but don't stay in Tree Tops in Arlington. Stay either east of the metroplex or west of Ft. Worth.
But, if you go thru Amarillo, the Oasis RV Park is the BEST! - Chum_leeExplorerI usually arrive in Albuquerque from the west so I can't help you route wise from the east. But, once in Abq, see Amy at High Desert RV Park on 13000 Central Ave to the west side of ABQ. It's a low frill RV park but its clean, well maintained, and the price is right. If you're on a real budget, Sandia Casino allows free no hook up RV parking but don't push it too long. So does Route 66 Casino on I-40 10 miles west of Abq.
To get more applicable info you need to post more about your travel interests. I can suggest hundreds of things to do around Abq but I'm just shooting in the dark if I don't know what you like to do and your time frame. The balloon festival is one worthwhile event if it interests you but you should avoid Abq during the festival if it doesn't interest you.
