- nemo45ExplorerOur Gulf Stream Tour Master came with an Everpure QC2-AC system with a dedicated tap for drinking water. The water line to the refrigerator also goes thru this filter also. It uses the Everpure ACD filter. WE have never had bad tasting water or ice. We spend our winters in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas where almost everybody buys bottled water. We don't, because our water tastes so well out of the tap. The filters are expensive, around $40 but they last over a year and I usually catch them on sale and always have a spare. It doesn't take long to spend $40 on bottled water. The filtered water only goes to the dedicated tap and the icemaker and you can sure tell the difference at the other taps in the motorhome. I would figure out some way to incorporate a filter like this in your water system.
- Matt___CarolExplorerInstall a small RO system under the sink dedicated to the ice maker and drinking water faucet. We have used the Profile RO brand from Home Depot for several years since its small size is ideal for an RV

My two cent worth. Most of our traveling in the last ten years has been in the Southwest. In some places the water is so hard and tasty you can chew it. Terlingua, TX was especially "memorable." I took out the ice maker and used the space for bagged ice. Then I figured it out...
I put the ice maker back in. Bought a Flo Pure softener backed up by a charcoal filter. Now, no water spots, good water and ice. Good enough for ice tea and coffee.
yep, my ice maker was as easy to winterize as my outside shower which I never used anyway. If you get to an area with skunky water, i.e. Iowa City Iowa, Tyler Minnesota, etc., just shut er down for awhile.

The best thing I ever did was take out the ice maker. I then fill the bin once every couple of weeks with store bought ice. Cheap and now I don't fuss with winterizing the ice maker or replacicing that expensive heated hose on my Dometic.
This is exactly what we did. We got tired of jumping through all the hoops with double and triple filtering water then working on keeping the ice maker line from freezing in sub-zero cold. We buy ice and drinking water as we go and have never regretted it! We figured for the price of all the filter cartridges we can buy or get drinking water from a trusted source and buy all the ice we can use..life simplified.
