Motor home noises

I've owned 6 coaches...2 of them being class A diesels (vectra & journey) both bought new. All of the coaches had not only wind noise but the noise of the cabinets, some squeaking and creaking. Not terrible mind you but enough to question it.

I've driven 2 coaches that made absolutely no noise, none, no wind noise, no creeks and literally silent down the road. They where a foretravel and a prevost XLII. Even though my current coach is the quietest and it is a truck conversion, it still gets wind noise but no noise in the cab from the components. The only thing I can think of that is really different is that the foretravel and prevost have bladders that seal around the slides and doors once the coach is aired up. Maybe other high end coaches have this also but I have not driven them.

Sooooo, my conclusion is as the price goes up the noise goes down. Otherwise it is pretty normal to the industry.

Take a look at both corners of the dash while you're going over so bumps or uneven road at slow speed. See if the side of the coach is moving relative to the dash.
Some Workhorse chassis have an issue under the hood near the sides of the coach. There is a steel frame/bracket with small sheet metal screws that attach that metal frame to the side of the coach. The original screws are inadequate and break off, leaving the coach free to travel an inch or two relative to the dash, and this will cause a squeak where the dash upholstery meets the sides of the coach.
If this is your issue, it's not a difficult fix. You have to jack up the coach until the metal frame (made out of 1 X 1 steel stock) is lined up with it's original position and then install more/larger screws.

The "hissing" noise that you're hearing from the power steering is normal when turning. That's merely the fluid (under pressure) dumping over the pressure relief. However, if it's constantly "hissing" all of the time, even when driving in a straight line on the highway, then you need to have that checked out.

A "gurgling" sound in the power steering might be an indication of air in the system (which should be bleeding itself out). Air in a hydraulic system is not good and could cause your pump (and drive motor on your cooling fan) to cavitate. You definitly don't want that.

Amen! I don't believe any of the previous posts saying theirs don't make noise. All MH's have these issues some of us may just be conditioned to ignore them....

Then I invite you to go for a ride with me....:B..it's like being in an airplane..all you hear is the wind passing by outside. Of course our door is air sealed and the rest of the coach is pretty well put together....I've never had the radio on in the coach and don't really know how it works....DW and I talk.!!!....Dennis

Congrats on your new rig. What you paid for it.....you better say something. Make sure you get that ALL fixed before that warranty runs out. You wanna enjoy your Motorhome not complain about it. Good luck to you. Let us know how you made out.

Funny you say that, as I was watching a you tube video today, I heard almost the same noise on the motor home as I hear in mine (squeaking). The door I notice can be pushed in a little after being closed from the outside. There seems to be more door sticking out towards the bottom then the top of the door when looking down the side towards the front of the motor home. Maybe just an adjustment?

Oh I heard a horrible loud road noise once and was all freaked out until
I realized that the back up camera was on and so was the intercom so I was hearing all the outside noise... phew...another easy fix...

Radio... yes great alternative to going batty over these annoying noises. LOL

Sleeping... now for me that requires exhaustion... I actually found a
quiet clock (cause the ticking was driving me mental) on amazon
which was a great purchase !

Sometimes if i turn the radio down and start listening to all the little noises, freaks me out! My mind starts going, thinking i got a problem. Only problem is my mind....
