- JackfateExplorerThanks folks , very good info here I'm relaying this to my coworker ( who may soon be a member here)
Thanks all - The_LogansExplorerOne of the first things that most new owners do, is cut the interlock wire in the receptacle, and cap it.
The reason has very little to do with the TV... It's because in many rigs, that is the only receptacle that is powered by the inverter. We use it to make a pod cup of coffee at rest stops, and have a crock pot sitting in the sink cooking our dinner, while traveling. To my way of thinking, having the only receptacle powered by the inverter disabled when the ignition on is beyond stupid.
By the way, we also have the tablets and laptops charging from the inverter while driving.
JMHO - sch911ExplorerAs you can see it's perfectly normal for the front TV to be locked out while driving. Totally working per design!
- DrewEExplorer IIMost states have laws that prohibit having a television that operates within view of the driver while in motion. The precise definition of what "in view of the driver" is varies somewhat; some say just in their line of vision, others say that the screen can't be in front of the plane of the backrest of the driver's seat.
Before disabling the interlock, make sure you're compliant with the law in the states where you'll be driving (or avoid using the television while driving). - TrackrigExplorer IISome Mfgs wire the TV receptacle to disconnect while the RV is in motion because the driver isn't smart enough to not watch the football game while he's driving down the road.
Tell him to try plugging it into another outlet with an extension cord while driving. If it works, then there isn't a problem - but still don't watch it while driving.
