Not sure if its' paint or gel coat or ? on roof peeling
I have a 05' Winnebago Journey Diesel Pusher. Along the roof edge all around the coach as the roof meets the sides it appears to be discoloring. I don't know if it is the paint or the gelcoat or clear coat or what it is that is "fading." Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know how long it has been since it has been waxed as I just bought the coach on Ebay. There are no leaks but it is unsightly. It is a fiberglass roof. Also, it appears that the previous owner was not very "artistic" when trying to seal the things that are attached to the roof. Looks like he got some of the sealant on his thumb and just wiped it off on the roof in places. Again nothing leaks and everything works fine but it's very unsightly.
QUESTIONS:
1. Can I just scrape off the sealant and reapply in a more clean manner without compromising the integrity of the seal area (anteannea, satellite, etc.,)
2. What is the probability that the paint on the side of the roof is worn off vs. the clear coat/gelcoat that needs to be cleaned, de-oxidized and then reapplied?
BEFORE YOU ASK . . . NO PHOTO AVAILABLE YET
