I look at local RV sales periodically, this one caught my eye. It's very low priced but it wasn't enough for me to discredit it as a scam. But as I looked closer at the pics, they are from different RV's. In some it's hard to tell but specifically the dash pics show subtle differences. One has round vents, the other square, one has a doghouse the other doesn't, One has a console the other's don't.. etc. One pic shows a black fridge on one side and a wood panel fridge on the other side in another pic. I also checked the VIN and despite the ad proudly explaining the Ford V-10, this VIN is to a workhorse. I reached out to the seller using a sacrificial email I use for this sort of thing. So he responds and calls me a loser and attempts to explain the differences. He went further to give me the address (which is local to me) and told me to come check it out myself. I thought that was bold. Being the guy I am I look up the address and find out who the owner of the house actually is. The seller also gives me the cell phone and it matches the guy that owns the house. Now we have identity theft. But I have to say the guy is good. Didn't have the normal foreign flair most scammers have, this guy knows what he is doing. Anyway, it passed the time between meetings this morning. I may stop by the house he gave me later and tell the gentlemen he maybe a victim of identity theft. Buyer beware guys.AD

A Ford Motor engine and a Workhorse Chassis. That spells scam to me.

Didn't take long to delete the ad. I think you have him on the run. Look for a new ad next week ;)

Yeah he took it down shortly after he sent me a very nasty email. Still sticking to his guns, he told me I missed out on a nice deal but that he refuses to do business with me.

I have a question for somebody, Why do most of the scammers advertise cars, trucks boats, and RV's of all kinds for right around $1500 when the unit is obviously worth $6000 and up? How can someone not see that as an obvious scam? I guess that people are so hungry for a good deal that they fall for these scams.
I probably delete 10 ads a week here in WI.

So this gets weirder, the guy gives me his address and phone number. Both tie together to a man I won't name here. So I drive by when I take my lunch, sure enough the RV is in the driveway. He's not home. So this is puzzling. Many of the pics are obviously from different RV's. Things just don't add up. the pics, the price but why would he provide the address and phone number both tied together and coincidentally the RV is there? Is it possible that this is a legit ad and some of the photos were mistakenly uploaded to the ad? Could it be a mistake that the VIN goes to one chassis and he describes another? And he totally lost it when I asked those questions, called me a loser, a stupid idiot and a few other other nice things. If he was really trying to sell an RV you think he would have clarified things? This whole thing is weird. The phone number goes to the guy I mention above, but it's also tied to his wife who was deceased a few years ago. Do I call the man I know to be at the house and approach him? If it is legit he seems to be a bit off but it could also be identity theft and he may want to know. This is an odd one. Only 2 ways this could go, either it's legit and the guy has no idea what he's doing and a bit off, or it's identity theft and a good one since it places the RV at the same address.

And by the way, I'm not overly obsessed with this, I do investigations for international financial sanctions fraud for a living so it's sort of my thing. So close to home I had to start chasing it down.

That maybe legit but the ad sure is horrible. Google "dove and saisy spa" and you will find a website for that business. It says they are filing for bankruptcy and the MH was listed for sale at one point.

Ok, so turns out this may have been legit after all. Handled very poorly by the seller though. He says he put up a different pic although it was quite a few. Still has the VIN/chassis wrong. Says it's V-10 and it's a workhorse.

Definitely a weird one.
