Power Gear Jack System 500731

Hello All,

I have made the classic mistake. Had the RV repaired on the road.

Dealer in Florida, said he could fix jacks right away. Finally got motorhome back couple of months later. They installed a new panel, 500731 and new relay.

The jacks worked one time. Now when I start the engine, engage the parking brake, turn on the jack system, I get a flasking "engage park brake."

I have tried, going into configuration mode, verified voltages 13.5, and ground from park brake is present.

No dealer close by can even look at it...they said, "Five weeks to look."

Can anyone consult? I am in North Georgia.

Thanks for any help,

Grant

If this is a foot operated parking brake then you need to invert. yourself and stick your head under the dash near the parking breake pedal

You should see a pin switch

There should be two wires attached IF not or if only one look for a wire that is designed to push onto a tab and has a 2nd tab on it.. Yup, that is the wire for the jacks.. If nothing is connnected to the pin switch look for a pair of wires with a connecor designed to connect tothe tab on the brake switch.

Option 2:

Brake switch often fails to close.. Release breaks and try again usually works,, I sometimes go 3 tries.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I posted this on another spot already but what I did for my older 3 leg Power Gear levellers ( 94 Bounder DP ) was make a new control panel when the original fried. My system is very simple and with about $20 worth of switches made a new control panel.
The legs as well as the dump solenoids all have 12 volts to them and just need a ground to operate. The wire from the pump just needs 12 volts to turn on. All the coloured wires are right there at the old control. There is an on/off switch and the jacks down light also just needs a ground. When legs are down it lights up. It works great. Cheers Doug

Just a guess but it might not be the jack controller, look on the back of the parking brake valve ASM for a pressure switch, and ensure that the wire there has not come unhooked, then use a OHM meter to test the pressure switch to ensure that it's operating properly and sending the signal to the jack controller, and do a voltage check to ensure the switch is receiving power.

The park brake uses a ground to the control panel to indicate the brake park is on. I have checked and the ground is present.

Just another thought, if the dump valve is stuck open, would that cause the blinking "engage park brake?"

Thanks, Grant
